While having the winning h2h against Nadal and Federer, plus pretty much everyone else, is great, I feel that declining Djokovic can lose quite a few matches against rising Thiem over the years, and maybe retire with a losing h2h against him.

If that happens, what would that tell us about Djokovic and Thiem, and also about Nadal and Federer?

Hewitt has a winning record over Sampras, despite losing the first three meetings. All this tells us is that Hewitt is younger than Sampras, and all that potential Thiem-Djokovic H2H would tell us is that Domi is younger than Novak.

Roddick, another one-time slam winner, has a winning H2H over King. It means nothing unless you actually have the trophies to back it up. Sadly for Thiem, he has never beaten King and then gone on to win a trophy. Not even once.

Well, acoording to MTF logic this means Thiem would be 'goat', no?

Roddick played just a few matches against young Novak, so that h2h is indeed irrelevant.

Thiem on the other hand is expected to play more matches during the longer time-span against slam-winning Novak, so that h2h has the potential to become more significant.

The answer is simple: Daddy Djokovic will make him play until he change that.

It would mean that post-prime Djokovic isn't better than prime Thiem.
Though, he's 3 wins away from that, so still enough time for that not to happen

It is interesting because the difference between the ages of Novak and Domi is the same as the difference between the ages of Roger and Novak. Both the rivalries are following a similar trajectory

Its not a question of if but when. Its bound to happen unless Nole Retires or has a major injury.
But dont worry you nice mind. Both Rafa and Federer wil aslo have a negative H2H to Thiem and possibly Medvedev.

Age gap will be the cause of this.

It would mean nothing more than the obvious: that Thiem in his prime was more often than not able to get the better of Djokovic in his early-to-mid 30s.

Fed Nadal and Novak are mid to late 30s the age you decline physically and mentally. So ofc they should lose as they are old. Their bodies are degenerating. It’s why most athelehes are done in their 30s. They are all way past their primes in their 20s. All of them were much better than Thiem when around his age.

In that case it's funny that DQ tards count victories against post-prime Federer. But nobody takes them seriously anyway.

What a silly point Unbiased, if you are in the ACC I will make sure to vote for you. All this would prove is that Thiem is over half a decade younger than Djokovic. So what. 🤷‍♂️

It would be a natural thing , as novak wont retire anytime soon .in the past players retired when the lost a step or two , nowit doesnt make sense these 3 are and will be playing to have an edge at the goat debate .

It will continue to happen , just like Fed had to endure novak and rafa . Thiem will be Novak 's and Nadal's .

The difference of Age between Fed and Novak is almost as big as the one between Novak and Thiem. Fed is 5 years, 9 months and 14 days than Nole, and Nole is 6 years 3 months and 12 days older than Thiem. Now Noletards will likely have age as an excuse for the h2h vs Thiem (and more so in future if the things go in favour of the Austrian), while they like to brag about those 3 Wimbledon wins against Federer...how fitting...
