Has this been a weak clay era all along, with little clay competition? It would explain Nadal's freak number of RG titles, against hard courters Federer and Djokovic, who, let's be honest, don't have a natural clay style.

Has Wawrinka been the only good clay courter, aside from Nadal, in the last ten years?

It's just a shame that he peaked so late. He would have certainly challenged Nadal on Philippe Chatrier, as Nadal's cross court forehand isn't nearly as effective against Stan's backhand.

Any objective fan knows that it has been a weak clay era. The fact that the so called king of clay was absolutely embarrassed by the AO GOAT shows what's up. Wawrinka's game is suited for clay though

Think of Wawrinka RG 2015 win as a Safin AO 2005. A talented ballstriker peaking at the right time for the most important event.

But Safin AO 2005 barely beat Fed. Saved match point. Wawrinka crushed most his opponents. Big difference

Nadal just bullies his opponents by running everywhere and vamosing. In reality he should have lost to Fed in 2006, 2007, 2011, and to Djokovic in 2013, 2014.

and I like how NBC pretended that this was Nole's best chance because Rafa was not in the final ... as if Nole did not beat him earlier. This guy sells tennis to girls. That's what the ATP needs him for. Selling tennis to new audiences. Look, rafa has 9 FOs and nobody can't take away those ... but yeah .. weak era

Are you even serious? Talk abt Knee jerk reactions!

This has been one of the toughest clay eras ever.....Both Fed/Djoko cud hav easily ended with 2-3 RGs themselves in any other era...

Stan winning RG is a case of a talented shotmaker playing lights out tennis on his day.....He is not even in the Top 5 Claycourters this era.

1 player (bull) doesn't define a whole era...

Yes....he doesn't. That is the point.

Just becoz he was winning doesn't mean the others were bad.

Nole, Fed and even Ferrer are a lot better than many other previous RG winners.

The best ever on Clay being in the same generation has clearly hurt their chances.

This is one of the strongest Clay eras ever even though it was only 3 winners in a decade.

2005 Federer was much better than anyone Wawrinka has beaten in his slam runs. This Wawrinka would struggle to win a set against the same Federer that Safin beat.
