Re: Week 40: Buenos Aires, Argentina [Entry List]

I'm interested to see how competitive Nikola Ciric will be against Carlos Berlocq
Wouldn't be shocked if he stole a set against the Carlos
He can definitely win at least a set, he's a good player. I would be a little surprised if he won but he's not without chances.

The only match of the four today I expect is pretty much a sure thing is Cuevas over Chucky Junqueira. The other three should be interesting. Could be 3 out of 4 for Argentina in the SFs.

I think Maximo vs Jorge is a sure thing
Unless Maximo chokes more than Rui Machado (not sure that is possible) then he will win in straights vs Jorge

I think Charly will beat Ciric. Later Charly will play Doubles with Dabul against the austalian especialist Hensel and Hubble.
If they have a victory , they will play later with Ferreiro/Ventura in doubles.

Three matches in a day is too much.

Today the weather is not hot than yesterday. He must have all the strenght to play SF´s against Pablo or his friend Chucky.

Chucky share trainer with Charly , he knows well. Pablo , we all know he is a very talented player.

Cuevas-Junqueira 6-3 6-7(4) *0-1

This match is hilarious. There is a HUGE difference in ability between the two, but Chucky is competing hard and fighting his ass off. Pablo has put himself in winning positions constantly only to fail to deliver. Diego has a legit chance of winning this match.

Cuevas def. Junqueira 6-3 6-7(4) 6-2

Brzezicki def. Cervenak 6-4 6-4

Pablo was great in the third set. Chucky fought hard but just doesn't have the game to compete with players on the level of Cuevas.

I still expect a Machi v Pablo rematch, so let's see what happens tonight with Aguilar v Gonzalez.

Siiiiiiiiiiii Polaco. Huge from him.

Hope he plays Machi tomorrow. Still remember their match in qualies of last year Copa Telmex, I was there just to see Juampi lose in the 3rd set tiebreak

Aguilar's backhand is basically Massu level. Beyond liability level, it handicaps his entire game. He's also poor defensively, not a consistent returner, and has a poor second serve. He really doesn't have much game outside of that big forehand.

Machi was just the more solid and professional player. One more to go for the rematch.

Re: Week 40: Buenos Aires, Argentina [Entry List]

Machi has been playing well the whole week long. I hope he can win the title as he deserves it. There was a lot of rain on the last days and the court was really slow which wasn`t a benefit for even Machi or Jorge Aguilar serves.

Aguilar is not a bad player, much better than the Future events he had been playing until last year. He can be a stable Challenger player for a couple of years.

Charly is going to find a difficult match on SF against Cuevas who is the favourite to win that match but he should be quite consistent against a player who doesn`t make many unforced errors.

That would be interesting to see a final match between Cuevas and Machi again.

Cuevas bt Berlocq 6-3 / 6-3

Charly made a lot of mistakes but Pablo`s deeper and aggresive shots were the key to win it easily.

Congrats for Pablo who is showing on the past weeks that his tennis is at the right level to play ATP tournaments again. Good luck for him :yeah:

What an incredible match between Gonzalez and JPB. Gonzalez was dead and buried at 6-3, 5-4 down with JPB serving for the match. Gonzalez broke back and won 8 games in a row, with it finishing 3-6, 7-5, 6-0 to Gonzalez.

Maximo GONZALEZ def. Juan Pablo BRZEZICKI 3:6 7:5 6:0

Maximo was *3:5 0:40 down in 2nd set and it looked like it's over, but he fought up and made it 7:5! Then he easily took third set - 6:0! :worship::woohoo:

Absolutely amazing comeback from Machi. He's the Ferrer of the challenger tour, someone with extreme determination, heart, competitiveness and professionalism. What a great comeback from looking completely dead in the water. I'm so happy for him, especially given this is in Buenos Aires. I'm sure he felt the support from the crowd and just the atmosphere of playing in the home country raised him to high levels. Great win.

Pablo v Machi rematch!!
