Re: Week 37: Covington

C'mon Goldstein!!!!!!
Re: Week 37: Covington, Louisiana (U.S.A.)

Surely this event will be cancelled as the state of Louisiana is under 'a state of emergency'
Anyone have any news?

The U.S. Tennis Association canceled the $50,000 men's Challenger event scheduled in Covington, La., the week of Sept. 12. A new USTA men's Challenger event will be scheduled for the week of Oct. 24 at a site to be determined.
Go Mardy  and Alex!!!
I see Salzenstein on the entry list. Was he really going to play? Last time he was in action was qualies of Roland Garros I think. Some sort of injury...

Was it an outdoor tournament? Maybe they could have it at the Lindner Family Tennis Center (home of MS Cincy) then...might be a bit cold though. Cincy area has taken in refugees from Hurricane Katrina, why not a tennis tournament?
Elbow injury I think. Perhaps this was the week he was hoping to come back?

I think the USTA felt it was too late to move the tournament to another city that week. They have added a Challenger in Carson the week of October 24th to make up for it. There will now be 3 events in a row in California next month. I just hope the weather holds up. It rained during the Burbank Challenger last year and it was a bit of a mess.
