Sergio Roitman (Arg) v Max Mirnyi (Blr)

Date: 18/04/2007
Time: 13.00 Cet Time
Tournament: Tennis, ATP Tour – MS Monte-Carlo
Surface: Clay
Round: Second
H2H:
No Meetings

The difference between these players is really incredible, Mirnyi is a player of attack, serve and volley, classic player from fast courts, little solid with a lot of winners and unforced errors, these last one especially from deep court, where it is not his game, and in fact on Clay he has a bad record, 7/10 W/L in the last two years.
Roitman is a player much modest, and sure of the smaller level regarding the best Mirnyi, even if they are a lot different, but on this surface he is the classic Argentine that fight on all the points and especially to Challenger’s level he has reached good results.
Mirnyi has lost the last year to the first round here in Monaco, Roitman has not played this tournament the last year.

There is not much and more to explain and to add, on these surface, a lot slow and to these odds, the prevalence is for the player of Argentina.

Ivan Ljubicic (Cro) v Radek Stepanek (Cze)

Date: 18/04/2007
Time: 14.30 Cet Time
Tournament: Tennis, ATP Tour – MS Monte-Carlo
Surface: Clay
Round: Second
H2H: Stepanek leads 1-0
– 2005 Milan Carpet S Stepanek 6:4 6:2

Is Stepanek that Ljubicic is two players from fast courts, but both players in theirs career have reached good results also on Clay.
They have a game enough different, the Czech is an all around player, nice to the service and to the net, Ljubicic has for sure his point of force in the service, where he can make the difference, but also from deep court he is enough regular and especially with the backhand he is succeeded to defend very well.
The Czech in the last 10 months has had many physical problems and still he is not back to the top of the shape, and especially on this surface at the moment it’s hard to judge the player Czech.
Ljubicic is making much good and will have to defend many points here on clay, inasmuch as the last year he has played two great tournaments, here in Monte-Carlo and to the Roland Garros, demonstrating of being able to obtain nice results also in a slow’s surface like Clay.
Stepanek last year lost to the second round against the modest Di Mauro, Ljubicic in the quarter of finals against a player as Gonzalez.

As saying befor,e is a match strange, but Ljubicic plays better the important points and probably at the moment he is better regarding the Czech and this makes to incline me on Ivan, also because 80% it’s a honest odds.

Roitman is not the typycal argentine player, and hes game is not modest.
He hits a lots of winners from backhand and fore hand. Hes forehand is among the five strongest in the ATP.
He goes very often to the net, and volleys very well. He serves better than average Argentine (Behind, Chucho, calleri and delpotro suppose).

If he doesnt choke the match, he should win this one in two easy sets.
