As I'm not a tennis player, I'll just start this, but it would be great to have some competent and level opinions too.

The main Tsonga's weapons are the serve, forehand and volley. Novak knows how to cope with big servers/forehanders (he doesn't blink in front of either Roddick or Federer, and is quite good on return and serve anticipation), plus he's able to send deep balls consistently, thus preventing opp's rushing to the net.

On the other hand, Tsonga is fast on the baseline, so he could block Nole's from-side-to-side game to a good extent.

Other opinions?

Djokovic is Better overall.He is also quick and his baseline game is only behind fed's(but not anymore).I am afraid of Tsonga serve.:devil:

I think it was the "who is more talented" thread. There was a discussion about their strengths and weaknesses.

Tsonga serve is more of a weapon and he is a better volleyer. He should come to net as much as possible because I don't think Nole's passing shots are all that. (I could be wrong, you know I find it hard to be objective)

I think tsonga has a great serve. He also seems to have a sense of when to attack and make his way to net during points.

Novak doesn't play quite as aggresive/attacking the net( he could if he chose to). He plays more consistent and then takes control and finishes points with his big forehand.

Thought I would share those comments with you guys, copied and paste from some other forum:

"Tsonga's serve is a lot like Sampras's. He has a fluid consistant motion that doesn't require a lot of energy (unlike Roddick's) and he can hit it accurately with excellent placement either spinning it in our flatening it out. Also, he's a tall guy (6 3') with a long reach so that gives him added consistancy (Like Berdych). Most importantly, he hits it very well under pressure, like Sampras (unlike blake).

Tsonga's forehand is like Federer's. It's not as consistant, and he can't hit it as well on the run like Federer, but he generates unbelievable power, especially when he flatens it out. It also reminds me a little of Fernando Gonzalez's forehand when Gonzo cranks it. In fact, i'm guessing because of his size and racket speed, he probably can hit it harder than Federer, but not with the same consistancy as Federer. Tsonga also has great feel for topspin forehands. What reminds me the most about Federer's forehand, however, is his decision making. Unlike Roddick he doesn't just unintelligently spin it in and come to net, instead like Federer, he chooses well when to add more power from the baseline, when to spin it in, and where the best places to hit it are and with what speed, when approaching the net.
He's also a very intelligent player (unlike Roddick). He kept his composure throughout the entire Nadal match, even when the umpire screwed him on that break point-ace-overrule. But what I liked more was his recognition of Nadal's weak 2nd serve and his decision to consistantly attack it. "

Of course you are right, he had troubles with Stepanek, lost a set to Delic, that's why i don't realize why Fed doesn't go more to the net when playing against him? Only reason i see is that Novak sends deep balls most of the time, not giving chance to opponent for good approaching shot, but if Tsonga keeps serve-and-volleying on first serve, it's not gonna be easy to break him at all

Yes, and the other problem he'll face is, Tsonga tends to send deep quick balls to his opponent too, to destabilise them, and rush to the net, so djoko is gonna have to come up with the good big time here.

it is tsonga's net play that is the difference between the two players. experience doesn't count for much. both are fantastic from the baseline.
