lol, they may win the doubles and if they do then roger win wrap it up against murray. but if the swiss win it then roger probably wont play a dead rubber so they may have a chance to save some pride. murray doesnt really have a big weapon, but the serve in time will become one.
If the Swiss wins the doubles and if I were Severin Lüthi, I would let Roger fly to Thailand on Sunday morning, so that he can get adjusted the time difference,, jet lag, time to get used to the hard coart again, and so on...

It would be a lack of respect towards his national team . A player must be there until the end of the tie and besides Roger only goes to Bangkok due to the great fee ( $$$$$$$$$$$$$ )

:( Thats dissing Bangok, anyway most players love playing in Bangkok there is just something about the city. I believe Roger loves it out there too, so sure money is a great incentive but I think he also loves it down there, kinda like Hamburg

He can go to Bangkok on holidays . After a DC tie played on clay he travels a lot of hours on plane , jet lag, change of court etc etc etc . I'm sure that his main motivation to do this sacrifice isn't Bangkok's beauty, but $$$$$$$$$$

Right, I think that should be so. If Roger stays till Sunday, I hope he flies as soon as possible after the DC tie is finished, and his first match in Bangkok should be sometime on Wednesday so that he has time to get used to everything...

I don't think he is going to Bangkok just for money. I remember him saying something about tennis and Asia. He has points to defend there, too. He has plenty of money already, why does he want more, sacrificing what you just said!?

Well, we are going off topic. We should get back to Stan defeating Andrew topic... :)

Andy Murray would get slaughtered the same way his countryman did today against Ninja. Swiss will win tomorrow. Allergo and Federer are too good.

I dont know if anyone feels the same, but you have to question whether murray really is a claycourt player like he makes out. His results have been crap on clay, and the only evidence we have of him being any good on the surface is his wannabe talk. He always talks himself up on clay, and then has bad results!

I don't doubt Fed loves Bangkok, i know a lot of players that love this city . The only thing i'm saying is his main ( not his only ) motivation to go to Bangkok is the money .

At Bangkok open he will receive approximately ( 400,000-500,000 $ as fee ) .
He would need to win Bangkok open six times to earn that quantity of money and only going and playing a match he will earn 400,000-500,000 $

Have you seen the difference of points between Roger and Rafa ?? Do you think if Roger doesn't defend Bangkok's points Fed is gonna lose the first position ???
For his body and for his end of season in Europe it would be more suitable to be at home resting and preparing Madrid-Paris and Shanghai.

Do yo think Nadal, Ferrero, Coria , Nalbandian etc went to China last week because they love Beijing ???

Do you think Puerta will play next week in Vietnam ( travelling from Slovakia ) because he loves Vietnam ??? ( Puerta could play in Palermo a clay court tournament , his main surface and to gain more points than going to Vietnam, but surely in Vietnam he gets a great fee )

Andy has been slated by many for this result, but this is really his first poor showing I've seen from his matches, as he's played well in all the matches I've seen and been let down by his fitness in some, but this was the first time his actual display let him down. His shot selection was poor at times and his footwork on clay was somewhat lacking. His forehand was good and some of his drop shots were outrageous but on the slow clay it was a lot easier for Wawrinka to get them back, hence why I think Andy is better suited to faster surfaces, I find Hewitt's way of playing is similar so maybe that's why. Wawrinka however is a clay court specialist, and he utilised that well.

Anyway we're doomed to defeat now, I just want a home tie in Euro/Africa, or it would be nearly four years since we last had one.

I never said he goes to Bangkok because he loves the city. But I think he loves the city. :)

We didn't ask Roger and he didn't answer, so we never know, but what I think is he goes to Bangkok because he wants to defend his points (his main goal is to stay as No.1). You think money is the main reason for Roger to go to Thailand. That's fine. As I said, we don't know Roger's mind. But I don't agree with you.

I think it was Jtipson that pointed out, if Roger makes the final in Bangkok regardless of what happens the rest of the year he will clinch the #1 spot for 2005 there and then. Perhaps this could be his motivation too.....

Roge has mentioned recently that he really likes the people in Thailand/Asie. I will try to find this interview and make a post here
