Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously AO?

Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously AO?

Stanislas won Chennai by beating "the best tennis player of his generation" Coric in R2.
Roger won Brisbane by beating all the hyped up "the future is theirs" players Roanic, Dimitriov and Duckworth.
Djokovic and Nadal crashed out of their tournament in Doha by shock exits and Murray didn't bother playing.

Yet Djokovic and Murray are the overwhelming favourites for the Aussie Open?? Why?

Federer is entering his twilight years and getting closer to retirement everyday and Wawa hasn't been good since his Davis Cup win over Tsonga last year. Are they a serious contender for the Aussie Open this year?

winning a warm-up event does not mean much

it's on Djokovic's racquet

But Djokovic lost in his to an non-top 10 player. If these tournaments mean nothing why do all the top players (except Murray) play them? I would say EXHOs mean nothing but not the tournament before a slam like Brisbane/Doha/Chennai and Halle/Queens and Cinncy/Montreal and Rome/Madrid

Murray? :superlol:

Let's be honest here, it doesn't mean much. Davydenko won ATP Doha in 2010 beating both Nadal and Federer but Federer still won AO that year in the end, beating Davydenko in the process.

Murray?:haha:
6-0, 6-1 rings any bells?
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

Nole, Roger...Huge gap....Nishikori, Murray and Wawrinka

Djoker and Roger are the faves. Murray will reach the SF.

Djoker vs. Roger final.

Wawa won't reach the final.

Nice one.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

Well, bookies give Novak a little under 50% (2.10) and Roger about 15% (7.00). If they meet in the final, Djokovic will obviously be fave but by a considerably smaller margin that what would seem from the outright odds. It will all depend of course on the position of Nadal and Murray in the draw, but generally with every round that both Federer and Djokovic win, Roger's odds will shorten much more rapidly.

Fed and Novak clear favourites...nice to know if they meet it will be in the Final.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

I was actually more impressed with 2 losers - Raonic and Nishikori.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

Well one is the defending champion and the other is current world number 2, so I'd say they are both among the favorites to win.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

ho Common about Murray. he has done nothing for too long now. Ofcourse he may end up winning the whole thing but one exho win against Nadal isn't enough for me to believe he is going to show up at a level good enough. People were overreacting the same way after he won those 3 titles against Robredo and Ferrer and then the WTF happened.
Federer and Wawrinka should be considered way more favorite than him. I would give Nadal more chance too. maybe Nishikori but that's debatable as Nishikori is in good form but Murray has much more experience.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

AO Semis: Djokovic, Nishikori, Wawrinka & Federer
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

i see a Federer/Wawrinka Final, dont know who might win that, hopefully Roger.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

Murray is definitely a lock for the AO final, mate.
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

Nole and Murray as clear favourites? Seriously? And:"No, they are too old?" - I mean, ok, Federer is 33, but Wawrinka is 29 if I remember correctly :) Nole is the favourite even after his loss to Karlovic earlier this week. Nadal is a serious contender even remembering his losses in Doha and earlier to Murray in Abu Dhabi. But to ask if reigning champion and current nr 2 in the world should be taken seriously? Please...if not them then who?
Re: Wawa & Roger just won their warm-up tournaments. Is anyone taking them seriously

Murray is very solid. Why people laughing, is beyond me.

When was Murray a favorite? :spit:
