great win for our man! still hasn't been broken all tourney! when he is serving well he can beat a lot of players who are higher ranked..

hopefully next vs pospisil who he has beaten already this year. berankis is finally starting to put it together, his talent deserves top50 at least! :):worship::D

first of all, it will be tough to beat isner tomorrow.. secondly, to my knowledge groth, zverev and johnson are also all in the hunt for the montreal SE if they win tomorrow..

Berankis had his chances and played very well in Atlanta (that volley miss at *2-3 in the tiebreak... and if he had converted one of those BPs he had in the second game of the seconf set that Isner save both with a FH on the line and a 2nd serve on the line could have changed the match). This time he will take his oportunities and get a deserved win. :rocker2:

And for SE, hopefully Zverev and Johnson will lose tomorrow.

Though he lost, Gabashvili deserves credit for playing an epic game at 4-5 in the second set to try to avoid losing the match. As a frame of reference, the Jack Sock/Richard Gasquet match was two games behind Berankis/Gabashvili when the 5-4 Berankis game started, but the Berankis/Gabashvili match ended a couple minutes after the Sock/Gasquet match wrapped up.

Finally Ricardas stringing some victories. Been so long he's won 3 in a row in an ATP event. Another QF with Isner, can't say I feel confident about his chances.

Berankis is actually winning quite a few matches recently. Shocking!

This shows how badly Andy player yesterday, though it was probably due to rust.

^Although you could say maybe Gaba has already given his all against Andy that he just didn't have the physical (the ankle still said seemed to be hurting) and mental (well, usually the case with these lower ranked upsetters) strength left here.

Probably. I read that Gabashvili actually played a pretty good match against Andy, and ballbashers are dangerous when they're on. Playing one in form when you're rusty without any hardcourt practice for 4 months...yeah, it doesn't end well.
