Disgusting. What choke from Sock. Botnic winning on tie-breaks as usual. Don't know what to say, just sad for tennis right now :(

Sock go get a fucking psychologist  3-1 in the first set tiebreak, lost 6 points in a row, playing some amateur-ish points. 5-3 up in the 2nd set, haven't lost the serve once in the whole match to lose it when serving for the set, also a minibreak up in the 2nd set tiebreak and he absolutely gifted two points at 2-1 and 3-2

NID thread from the Raonic hater. Both players played miserably, though, so there isn't really a lot to be said about this one. The difference was Sock collapsed in any pressure situation.

Raonic looked quite rusty out there today.

Good thing Rusty Hewitt will probably run him around and make him play a lot of balls next round. Excellent practice for his home 'slam' next week.

This result shows why Milos is a top 10 player he was rusty been off for a few weeks yet still beat Jack Sock in straight sets. I think Milos is 4-1 against Sock their matches tend to be competitive BUT Milos mentally tougher in the pressure situations. People on here like to attack Milos BUT as a top player you learn to win when not playing your best.

NID answer from the Botnic fanboy.
It was an obvious choke from Sock, Raonic was just awful (serve aside, as usual).

good, now Raonic can get another match under his belt to try and stop sucking, and Sock can go to Toronto and sign in on site for doubles with Vasek(once Vasek loses to Berdych or now) so they can add a 3rd title to their collection.

Bad day for tennis whenever the Canadian servebot wins a match. It's actually depressing that he is above a true champion like Murray in the rankings.

Very immature answer this is the reason Sock is ranked in the 60s and Milos is top 10. Sock choked due to nerves BUT that is his problem not Milos Raonic problem. Haters never want to acknowledge Milos mental toughness he was down 3-5 in the second set yet cameback to win in straight sets! Sock had his opportunities to win this one but again he was mentally fragile unable to handle the pressure.

Beating Jack Sock thanks to a choke certainly proves you are a top player.

Raonic is NOT mentally tough, especially for a guy with a huge serve.

Its depressing that hes in the top 10 at all. Hes the only player i truly cant stand, so its one of those very rare occasions when i actually root for an american other than Isner.

well i wasnt going to be happy no matter who won

think lleyton has a serious shot at the win tomorrow. he's got a very good return and he's better in every way than sock apart from serve. the one thing lleyton will need to be is mentally tough and if he is he could win

Sock just went away in both tiebreaks. He looked very weak mentally. In both breakers he had a chance to go up 4-2, but instead he produced bad shots and was 3-3 at the change of sides. Those shots got into his head and he folded badly afterwards.

Sock got tight he has to learn to play better in pressure situations if he wants to go higher.
