This was a very strange, non-Isner like match. In fact, in the first four games of the third set, there were three breaks (2 for Isner, 1 for Berankis), which is probably a record for an Isner match. The giant American had a knee problem starting in the second set that the trainer looked at a couple times, but it didn't stop Isner from winning the match. Berankis was let down by his serve; he had nine double-faults, all in the last two sets. Isner had a greater than usual number of nice winners in longer rallies and in Berankis' service games.

Berankis missed a sitter at 30-30, Isner hit a completely lucky passing shot at 30-40 to break in the first game of the third and the match was over after that.

That game to break to love at 6-5* was brilliant. :worship:

Anyway, great last couple weeks for Rycka and hopefully he will keep this form.

Looks like Berankis gave as good a shot as he could, even getting a couple of breaks, not easy against a giant like Isner.
A really good week for him (though admittedly helped that Gabashvili knocked Murray out)
