Tougher than scoreline says. Kei had to fend off some BPs, often self induced. Not his best but enough for him to go through, considering tricky an opponent Groth can be. Kei got the first break when Groth lost control of a volley in a 0-40 game (which went to deuce) and had a couple of chances to break in the first game second set but Groth saved these with aces/unreturnables or service winners, often on second serves as well. Then Kei produced a marvel of a break featuring 2 lob winners off Groth's volleys and an impressive defensive pt with FH lob, then retrieving a FH off Groth's smash to set up 2 BPs. Needs an endless loop for sure. He then had to save 2 BPs on a subsequent service game but after that, he served it out with no fuss.

Cilic/Zverev next. Sweet revenge or intro to young gun.

Shanksgirl showing the same lack of variety in her posts that her hero shows on the tennis court.

I like groths game. He's got some serious weapons. He misses way too many easy 2nd serve returns though, needs to work on that.

His chipping serves back won't help on the first, but yeah the second, he should at least get some good ones and be more aggressive, chip charge is ok, but not all the time. He does get a jammed up on volleys especially low to the body after serving, but that's to do with quality of the returner.

Watched a little and it looked pretty close with Groth serving up 145 mph+ serves... Wow.... Can't be that much fun trying to just return that thing.

Harry
Yeah they showed Kei only had bit more than half a second to respond to a 147 mph serve. So he did well, especially if Groth did not hit the spots.
