I was at the match and Niemeyer played the match of his life to the extent that he looked like he would collapse and die at the end of it. He asked for the trainer and even the supervisor when he was down in the second set, which seemed to rattle Querrey a bit, and I wasn't sure if it was legit until he lied down for ten minutes on his bench after the match concluded. Querrey looked like he was a little burnt out and dispirited against the pro-Niemeyer crowd, although he lost after being up a break in the second set.

Earlier in the day, I watched de Voest and Fisher beat Donald Young and Alex Kuznetsov 6-1 6-2. Young and Kuznetsov both looked very green, Young especially could gain a lot of muscle and match toughness; he got a little negative early on and didn't hold serve once in the match.

A brilliant week for Fred, and hopefully he'll go into his match against Ancic on Tuesday, full of confidence.
