This match was a LOT closer than the score indicates, despite Blake playing like crap. He missed break points in many, many games, while Ferrer eventually broke in all the games he had a break point.

Not a good match at all.

I feel kinda sorry for Blake who was probably hoping to go further here after a recent run of form following a slow comeback from injury. Pics just too solid though. Should easily make the quarters!

People can say what they want but Blake played well, Pics just played better. He was a human backboard and in addition to that he just wasn't missing. Ferru is not only a clay court monster he's also ridiculously tough on hard courts.

Unfortunate summer for Blake. White hot Isner twice which resulted in 2 tough 3 set losses. A meeting with Delpo and a loss to Haase followed by this. To climb back up the rankings you need easy draws (ala Haas this week). Its tough when you're playing people who are on fire.

Thought this would be a good one. It wasn't. Blake was poor on the big points and that cost him. Ferrer wasn't exactly outstanding either but he was solid enough to be better than Blake.

These courts are simply too slow and this match highlighted that immensely. Blake couldn't hit through Ferrer and didn't do enough damage with his serve. Got caught in many long rallies, and while he won some of them, couldn't keep up a consistently high level. 51 errors say it all.

Ferrer grinded and counter-punched like he always does, has a great shot at the QF's now.
