looked like a back injury but I'm not sure.

It's his back this time. :sad:

According to Japanese TV commentator who interviewed Kei's physical trainer, he's been having this problem since a few days before USO.

Cipolla was playing really well, but Kei's FH and BH lacked explosiveness and he wasn't moving well like usual. He had medical time out during the second set but seems it didn't help much.
Hope he'll be fit for DC and the Asian swing.

I'm really sorry that Nishikori is injured yet again, but I'm absolutely ecstatic that Flavio won! Very few points to defend until the end of the year, so every chance to get back into the Top 100.

Now I can dream of an upset against Dolgopolov :inlove:

It's sad that Kei has to retired the match.

However from watching the 1st set, Cipolla could be ranked higher than his current ranking if he play like this on a consistent basis. To me, he simply outplayed Nishikori in the first set. Good game :yeah:
