Current race:

Nishikori - 5525
Wawrinka - 5520
Berdych - 5040

Ferrer - 3545
Cilic - 3315
Nadal - 3000
Raonic - 2860

Only the top 3 have a chance, so no point even discussing the rest or including them in the poll.

Nishikori has a very insignificant 5p lead on Wawrinka, Berdych is 485p behind. All will depend on how they do in the coming tournaments of course, Nishikori has Washington, Montreal and Cincinatti on his schedule; Wawrinka has Gstaad, Montreal and Cincinatti; Berdych has only the two Masters.

The advantage of being seeded #4 for USO would of course be avoiding Djokovic, Federer, Murray at the QF stage along with a theoretically easier R4 and R3 draw of course.

What are those points totals from? Current rankings:

#4 Wawrinka - 5790
#5 Nishikori - 5525
#6 Berdych - 5140

From US Open last year to now, since what will count for USO seedings is the amount of points accumulated in the 52 weeks that preceded the tournament. Call it a race to US Open or something.

Yeah, the points don't differ much from the current ranking points anyway since Wawrinka and Berdych had poor US Open series in 2014 (270p for Wawrinka, 100 for Berdych) and Nishikori has 0p since he was being operated to his foot during the US Masters.

What about Fed? He's #4 in the Race, and has pressure to defend his Toronto and Cinci points while the aforementioned three hasn't virtually had that pressure.
If Federer doesn't play till USO he'll lose 1600 points, but still will be left with more than 8000 points i.e. out of the reach of anyone but Murray.

The last column; after Canada/Cinci points deduction:

http://live-tennis.eu/forecast_atp_ranking

Fed 8065, Murray 7450, Nishi 5525, Wawa 5520, Berdych 5040

The best scenario for Fedal is Nishi at no.4, so that Fedal can get Nishi for the SF and all other contenders and dark horses again simply being moved to Djokovic half like the last USO (Stan, Murray, Cilic, Stronga ...)

The best scenario for Murray (if Federer stayes at no.2) is Stanimal as no.4, because it would 99,9% entail him being placed in Fedal' half, since Stanimal is always in Djokovic' at HC slams and Murray is much better outcome for the USO final (for sponsors, TVs, tournament) than Stan.

Federer has 4000 points more then Wawrinka, he isn't falling to no4.

no2 its going to be more interesting. if we strip them of Canada/Cinci points, 7450, Federer has 8065. so only 600 points between them.

I recommend Slashers' just in case. :p

Ah, never noticed it was that big of a lead. Interesting to see that the 3 aforementioned are just around 500 point in between without those points. Fed did a big run post-USO too. Should be interesting how he defends those points.

Hopefully Kei is healthy, because he would be in with a decent chance. No more Slams for Slam the Man until then, so he will likely be his inconsistent self. Berdych is more consistent, but will probably continue his mandatory tournament SF losing streak at best, or have some early losses at worst.

I hope Nishikori can get 4 for a slam this year. He's missed out just by a little bit, and his run last year shows fast hard courts are his best surface. He could really do with a sweeter draw this time round though.

Hopefully Wawrinka, not only he's the better human being among these 3, he also has a real chance of winning the tile. A seed upgrade would be nice. :yeah:

Why do you think Wawrinka is "the better human being" than Nishikori. What do you base this statement on?

Wawa's performance on North American masters has traditionally been terrible ... probably Nishikori if he is healthy.

Canada: 1 QF out of 8 previous appearances
Cincinnati: 1 SF, 1 QF out of 8 previous appearances.

In comparison, Berdych has 3 QFs in Canada out of 10 appearances, 2 SFs and a QF in Cincinnati in 10 previous appearances.

He has done a greater service to tennis so far.

Example:

Also, he never takes 10 min bathroom breaks and walks like a zombie in the court to distract the opponent. ;)

My rate for them as human beings:
- Wawrinka 8/10.
- Nishikori 4/10.
- Berdych 2/10.

True.
Federer took bathroom break vs Davydenko to disrupt his rhythm. He admitted, that he didn't have to go to the bathroom, but Federer is a great human being
