What is the deal with the schedule?
First round male on wednesday, no male 2nd round matches on that day, Ginepri is playing 1st round doubles, before 1rd singles, and that silly sf on saturday and final on sunday is well documented.
I see Murray is already complainging about 7 matches in 12 days, and he has got a point, especially after he was robbed od a good match by idiotic schedule mixed with rain delays in 2008. finals
Is it all because of TV, or complete ignorance?

Stupid Saturday and three days for the opening rounds connect together. Many guys probably don't understand that. By moving the semi-finals day one day back, they have one more day for the other rounds, and the best choice to do that is with 3 opening round days.

It's unfortunate for Murray and others who have to play on Wednesday. USO have never been too bright with scheduling, but what can ya do..

Fact he's playing Devvarman who could cause long rallies doesn't help, but that's another story.

Since those early rounds present matches like Tsonga-Bubka, Fedrered-Sela, Fish Jaziri and whoever vs Lisnard, why would you drag that,and then compress most important part of the tournament like that?

It's a very little bit unfortunate, nothing more.

Murray and Söderling now have they same rhythm as if they were at the French with their opener on Tuesday.

US Open: 1st round Wed -> 2nd Fri -> 3rd Sun -> R4 Tue -> QF Thu -> SF Sat
French Open: 1st round Tue -> 2nd Thu -> 3rd Sat -> 4th Mon -> QF Wed -> SF Fri

based on what are you claiming that they will get days off?
lisicki played dallas, then today, and tommorow she is playing 2nd round
is that normal?

That's WTA, they only have two days for opening round, just as usual. And yes, Lisicki was playing Dallas finals on Saturday and actually her match should be played on Monday but she couldn't fly too NY because of Irene, so it got put on Tuesday. They can't throw of the whole schedule because of one player and WTA only plays best of 3 so that shouldn't be an issue.

I see no 2nd round men's matches scheduled tomorrow. Last year Roddick and Monfils played their 2nd round matches on Wednesday night. What gives? :confused:

One of many reasons why it's the worst slam.

(to top it of, they slowed it down this year to ensure a boring player win it.)

And no, there is nothing to understand here, other than commercial purpose that isn't tennis related.

i appreciate the fact that you are trying to reason something like the fact that someone plays 2 matches in a row, and someone else will play monday then thursday ( albeit that is wta, which is irrelvant for the argument that the scheduling is a complete nonsense ), but i still dont see why is that acceptable or normal
i want to know what is affecting schedule in such a way that it affects the tournament and gives some player more chanches then others, depending on luck
and i am not so sure that no matches in male competition will not be played in conscutive days

And what's the order for Monday and Tuesday 1st rounders? They all play their 2nd rounds on Thursday -> Saturday etc?

That can't be right.

Plus with stupendous Saturday, the Wednesday players have to player 3 matches in 4 days as opposed to 3 in 5. It seems a little more that just a very little bit unfortunate.

Yes, the guys from the upper half get one day more rest between quarters and semis, Fed's road:

1st round Mon -> 2nd Thu -> 3rd Sat -> ...

So until Stupid Saturday noone is disadvantaged except some matches have to be postponed because of rain.
