Great result for Georgian tennis. First man from this country in slam 4R since 2006. Now he will face Nadal/Khachanov.

Indeed, great result. Really surprised Pella was the bookies favourite here, didn't seem right at all.

Last (and only other) time a Georgian was in slam 4th round was Irakli Labadze 12 years ago. He lost in straight sets to... Rafael Nadal.

For Basilashvili:

First ever 4th round/slam 2nd week
Career high at around 31
Best haul in a single tournament in terms of $$
Probably the best Georgian tennis player ever (since independence) even if retires tomorrow. Surpassed or matched all of Labadze's achievements other than that single master's 1/2 final

The first was one of my favourite ever players, Irakli Labadze, who reached the Wimbledon 4th round in 2006 when he was fat and completely past it having just turned 25. Crazy.
