What is Underdog Tennis Tipping?

- A variation of the popular game Tennis Tipping played on both MTF and TF , the MAIN DIFFERENCE is in each round you must pick at least 1 highlighted ODDS UNDERDOG in the Order of Play , thus creating more difference, and more exciting matches overall . Regular tennis tipping has most players picking all ODDS FAVORITES every match , IF you pick all FAVORITES here , you will be DISQUALIFIED !

How to Score a Match

1) correct picks
the player who has more correct picks is the winner
in the case of a tie in the number of correct picks the winner should be determined by this order:

2)
set ratios

Code:
player A wins if he has more correct set ratios than player B.
in case there is a tie in the number of correct SRs, you should use the Set to Winner (incorrect 21 picks) method.

3)
(incorrect 21 picks)

Code:
all incorrect picks will be compared, and the player with the most incorrect 2-1 picks will win.
(in Grand slam best of 5 , all incorrect 3-2 picks count as 2 points and all incorrect 3-1 picks count as 1 point towards Sets Given to Winner total)

---> if this fails to provide a winner, then the tie break method is :
Next step

- 4 matches in the order of play will be labeled PTB (pick tie break) which will require players to pick the score for tie break purposes, such as 64 63 or 76 76 for example, these matches will be labeled PTB1 to PTB4, with PTB1 being the first used to settle the tie, if it can't be settled thru PTB1, we would move down the order to PTB2 , PTB3 and lastly PTB4.

4) tie breaks (based on PTB1 match first)

-in case Player A chose the correct winner for the PTB1 match while Player B didn´t => Player A wins
-in case Player A and player B chose the correct winner for the PTB1 match and only one has the correct set ratio for that match, then the Player with the correct set ratio wins
-in case player A and player B chose the incorrect winner for the PTB1 match and only one has the incorrect set ratio 21 (versus 20) for that match, then the player with the incorrect 21 set ratio wins (In Grand Slam best of 5 , 3-2 will win over 3-1 , and 3-1 wins over 3-0 , incorrect winner pick)
---> In case Player A and Player B chose the correct winner or both chose loser for the PTB1 match and both have the correct/incorrect Set Ratio for that match, winner should be determined by this next methods in PTB1 Match (Pick Tie Break) :

5) tie breaks (points)

a) correct order of sets (co)-> prediction of the correct winner of one or more sets.

Code:
o 1 set – 1 point
o 2 sets – 4 points
o 3 sets – 7 points
o 4 sets – 10 points
o 5 sets – 13 points
b) correct scorelines (cs) -> prediction of the exact score of a set won by a player:

Code:
o 1 set – 3 points
o 2 sets – 6 points
o 3 sets – 9 points
o 4 sets – 12 points
o 5 sets – 15 points
o bonus of 2 points for each score line predicted in the correct set.

c) total of PTB points (PTB):

o PTB = CO + CS

Sample
player A chose : 6-4 6-3
player B chose : 7-6 6-4
actual match score 63 62

player A CO (4) + CS (3) = total 7
player B CO (4) + CS (0) = total 4
Player A wins
---> If you can't find a winner after all this, use the who's closer method: (WHEN BOTH PLAYERS PICK WINNER)

Sample / Both Players MUST have Winner

Player A chose : 6-4 6-3
Player B chose : 7-6 6-4
total number of games in actual match score 75 62 : 7+5+6+2 =20
total number of games in Player A pick: 6+4+6+3=19
total number of games in Player B pick: 7+6+6+4=23
player A: |19-20|=1
player B: |23-20|=3

player A wins as he is closer to the real score.
---> If instead both players picked the LOSER , use the TB method where the player who gave the winner the most games will win (WHEN BOTH PLAYERS PICK LOSER)
Sample /Both Players MUST have LOSER

Player A chose : 6-4 6-3
Player B chose : 7-6 6-4

total number of games in Player A pick: 4+3=7
total number of games in Player B pick: 6+4=10
Player A: 7
Player B: 10

Player B wins
as gave more games to the actual winner in losing pick
---> After Exhausting PTB1 MATCH and still tied, try PTB2 thru full process , if still tied PTB3 thru full process , if still tied PTB4 is final Tiebreaking match.
If somehow still tied matches will be decided by predicting the results of another tournament. the players will then send for NEXT ROUND of their current tournament AND for the next day's OOP of whichever other tournament is selected.

QUICK SUMMARY
--->If all is tied with same score overall of WINNERS/SR/INCORRECT 21 PICKS , Matches are then settled using first match in OOP, by comparing that match , first comparing the WINNER, then comparing the SET RATIO, then comparing if 1 player has an incorrect 21 and the other does not, if all remains tied after all this, points scoring comes into play using the actual 64 63 for example, and using the formulas to determine the winner. everything is exhausted in the First match, but if remains tied moves to 2nd, then 3rd then 4th.

PTB (Pick-Tie-Break) Described/explained

PTB=Pick tie break
OOP=Order of play
SR=Set ratio (20 or 21)
ISR=Incorrect set ratio (21 vs 20)

-In our OOP and matches to be picked from , there will be tie breaking matches listed first as PTB
-each round will have 4 PTB matches except FINAL with 3
-when you see PTB at the end of a match, it means you should pick a score , such as 76 67 64 for example or 63 62
-when you see SR at the end of a match it means you should pick a Set Ratio , such as 20 or 21 (30/31/32) for Grand slams

-The reason for these PTB matches are to settle matches that end up tied with WINNING PICKS and CORRECT SET RATIOS plus SET TO WINNER (losing 21 picks)

-PTB1 is the first match listed in the OOP , and is the priority match to settle ties.
-Progression of PTB1 match is WINNER (having correct and opponent not) >SR (having correct and opponent not) >ISR (losing 21 pick vs 20)
-If still tied we then use the scores picked as in 64 63 or 76 76 for example
- from those scores we use a formula of correct order plus correct scores listed HERE
-if still tied we progress to closest to real score (IF BOTH PICKED WINNER) , adding up each players picks and comparing to real score
-if still tied we then add games both players gave to the ACTUAL REAL WINNER , highest amount wins (both picked loser)
-after all this if all remains tied we do all over again for PTB2 , then PTB3 then PTB4
-if all is still tied after PTB 4 , we then have both players pick from a new OOP for the next day to break the tie, from a different event, plus both pick for the next round of the current event

Testing RR FORMAT here , 8 groups of 4 , winners to QF Thursday, 3 matches each in Round Robin, with winners of day 1 playing each other on day 2 in each bracket , assuring most still have chance at QF with day 3 win.

4) Bracket Tie-breaker

a)
Greatest number of wins;
b) Head-to-head results if only two (2) players are tied;
c) If three (3) players are tied, then:
i) Number of correct picks within the 3 ties;
ii) Number of correct SR's / STW combo;
iii) If (i) or (ii) produce one (1) superior player (first place), or one (1) inferior player (third place), and the two (2) remaining players are tied, the tie between those two (2) players shall be broken by head-to-head record.

Welcome to UTT, a side game to TT, has a few differences , starting with the obvious of 1 UNDERDOG pick required, each OOP the UNDERDOGS will be highlighted in RED.

We use a variety of Formats, plus it is singles only, because of that we try to find ways that we can play a few days, with swiss system / round robin and 2nd chance brackets all being used at different events .

Swiss system being used at GS / IW / MIAMI / ATP CUP has been very popular, overwhelming vote as the best way to run the big events after first AO last year .

2nd chance brackets in most 250/500 events , all 1st round losers play this bracket for 50% of the points, and it had a great send level after it settled in, so I was quite pleased, although we had a hard time maintaining it thru European season, lacking managers for that time zone.

After running NextGen and ATP Finals on TT, players quite enjoy, so ill be test running a full event here of Round Robin , with the same format, to see just how difficult it will be to manage, and get some player responses to the idea, likely in February we will return to 2nd chance brackets in the friendly time zones of Golden swing for managers here on UTT.

Last but not least we maintain ranking thru the season, with races for every level, 250/500/masters/GS and overall rankings , but we do not use this for entry, so to assure everyone can play !

Actual trophies (small) are sent out to GS winners, 1 to RUSSIA and 1 to SWITZERLAND, although still awaiting response from CROATIA for the other 2, and soon year end #1 will receive trophy in mail.

Not certain you intended to enter UTT (usually get 1 every event by mistake), but of course you are welcome to, but in case it's a mistake and you forget to enter TT event when supertom opens TT, which I'm awaiting myself to enter.

I have changed the titles to not include Tennis Tipping and just UNDERDOG TT, so it's likely you entered correctly, if so look up 1 post at my response to chilenator on what to expect, thanks

Haha well I missed half the year myself, not the greatest way to promote the game, but got a little overwhelmed in whale watching season, past years I just disappeared for a few months , but each year I seem to extend my managing time :)
