He is such a gentleman he has never done anything to upset or offend anyone.

No-one has a bad thing to say about him, which isn't true of 99.9% of ATP players.

i think he will be like the Kim Clijsters of the ATP.... Except he wont get pregnant and retire at the age of 24 :D

he's certainly one of them. i don't think the fact that nobody has a bad thing to say about him has anything to do with his behaviours up to now but it's rather due to his non-existence until this week, to be honest.

he's a good guy, no doubt, and the best thing is that he's real.

I'm sure if he continues to play like this, and becomes more and more successful, he will collect his own little band of haters here on MTF - it's a sad fact of life here  Having said that - I agree he seems like a great guy, well behaved on and of court, personable, good-looking and a great player - what is there to hate?

Hardly anything has been printed about the guy. It's a bit premature to say that he's the most lovable player on tour.

Lovable player, indeed. Watching him the whole tournament was pure joy. :)

Rosie- in response to what you said about the "hate." It never makes sense, nor is there ever a reason for it. People who are unhappy or threatened by someone's spirit, health, good fortune, or vitality, will always spew negativity as an equalizer.

Whether a tennis player, or anyone else, it's wrong, and it speaks volumes about the person who GIVES the hate, rather than he who RECEIVES it.

Tsonga is a sweetheart. That smile alone...:inlove:

I love his smile too :hearts: He has a kind of warmth and charisma about him, which I hope will not get lost or "buried" along the way on his tennis journey.

If he had won the tournament there would be like 15 threads of hate...but thats usual on this board. Every winner gets hate, and loser gets sympathy!

Wise words again, Kelli...

As for Tsonga, he surely seems to be a very likeable player. Well-mannered, friendly, and with a smile to die for! :D

And here we go again... You turn the discussion to Djokovic, even though this thread has nothing to do with him.

Grazie, Karin. :hatoff:

With great results comes some negative stuff- we have seen that many times over, no? :p

I'm looking forward to more of that mega-watt smile in 2008! :D

Come on, find something you can criticize him for... go on :(

To come back to the subject his comeback from very serious injuries seem to have made him very down to earth and joyful character... very charismatic player, I hope he does not change too much (and that he takes an English teacher ;) but that's an usual French issue)

Hopefully. With Gustavo Kuerten long ago finished we needed a guy that we could universally admire. Hopefully Tsonga keeps it up.

I have absolutley no problem with all his ranting and raving and carrying on (on court) when hes winning and the whole "look at me look at me" thing he does after winning matches, but i know that Rafa isnt allowed to do that right?? Apparently his "incessant" fist pumping and sleeveless shirts are too much right? (Oh and having the audacity to beat federer 8 times my God the old foggies and self proclaimed "tennis pros" all hate that dont they). In spite of the fact that Tsonga put on a similar sleeveless shirt after the nadal match which, lets face it, he didnt HAVE to.

I didnt have a problem with any of that cos i liked him and his game but ive read enough about him and his views on rafa (and effectively saying that rafas came was crap at the USO last year or something to that effect), typical French hater (bar the wonderful Richard) like Forget, Mathieu and the whole band of people who believe that Rafa violates RG because he has "construction worker arms"... and yet this "Arrogant" spaniard still says that the Number 1 is a far better more complete player than him and more deserving of the top spot because he wins on every surface blah blah blah...

Its also Funny how people say Nole is an arrogant prick simply because he speaks about how much he believes in himself and his game and how proud he is of himself and that he believes he deserves to be no1 etc. Whereas jo is allowed to act big and arrogant with that whole show he puts on but if hes shy and baby faced when speaking to the mic "Awww that makes up for all of it" right???

Double standard HA.

Ill tell yah one thing Hed be the most lovable player on tour if he beat Nole, Fed tards would love nothing more than a guy who could beat Both of em, you know the tennis community at large already loves him for Thumping Rafa

Is another injury FAKER. The fittest player in the history of French tennis yet suddenly had cramp against Murray and coincidentally when he just lost the set 6-0.

If Djokovic done that, there would be outrage on here but of course loveable old "Jo" can't do anything wrong.
