And again...

This time, it's the knee. 9 months if an operation is required, 2 in the best case if he's lucky, more news in the coming weeks. The guy has been incredibly unlucky with injuries.

Next year, we'll probably see arseclowns wondering why he hasn't won tournaments or why he hasn't had wins on hardcourt comparable to Nadal.

Edit : I got this information from the eurosport site I think but it seems they were overpessimistic, plus the second examination with the knee specialist was more optimistic, i.e. he might very well avoid the operation and limit time off court to 10 days (it seems strange though for such a problem). I'm backpacking down under right now so I let the other French people to get you more (and better) informed.
That said, with the knowledge of his history of injuries, I won't hold my breath until I see him playing again in a tournament.

Of course you are going to see the arseclowns write him off, say he is washed up and should retire.

He is a big guy and he has to some specific exercises to keep him in shape, because he has already had the back problems.

Just hope he's only out for 2 months and doesn't need surgery.

This is really tough luck if he's out for more than 2 months :sad::sad:

He worked so hard to come back from his previous long injury layoff, and now this. Please recover soon, Tsonga.

Oh this is horrible news. I was hoping it would just be a few weeks, not a few months. He will be missed...

Just when he shows us all what he can do he's out of the spotlight again.

Knee injuries are incredibly dangerous too, just look at what happened to Safin.

But these are just assumptions going on in the media for one week now, there's nothing sure or new yet.
His coach said again yesterday they haven't taken any decision, he'll see other specialists before they decide anything:
http://fr.sports.yahoo.com/15042008/70/les-francais-es-tsonga-le-genou-est-touche.html
And in l'Equipe today, he says there definitely is a chance now he doesn't need an operation.

The Australian Open curse is getting worse year by year. The next runner-up's career will be over because he dies in some tragic accident.

But the first post is not accurate, I posted the latest news in Jo's thread, the only news in the French media are that there's nothing sure yet.

(And from the ES link I posted:
"Aucune décision n'a été prise" concernant la participation de Tsonga au Tournoi de Monte-Carlo (21-27 avril), a poursuivi Winogradsky.
"Nothing has been decided yet" concerning Tsonga's participation in Monte-Carlo, Winogradsky said yesterday.)

More precisely, it's a meniscal lesion (lesion of the meniscus) in the right knee. He will be seeing a knee specialist later this week, according to his coach. If surgery is not required, then he could be out for around 2 months. Otherwise, he'll need at least 9 months to recover from surgery.

But not even that part is sure. L'Equipe says he might be out 2 months if he has surgery ("Une intervention chirurgicale, quelle qu’elle soit, signifierait un arrêt de deux mois pour le numéro 15 mondial"). And L'Equipe is definitely more reliable than the Yahoo-Eurosport stuff.
So we really don't know yet.

I hope the short time estimate is the correct one. This fellow has had horrible injury luck so far- even perhaps surpassing Haas and Ancic.

I hope this is indeed the worst case scenario. The speedier Tsonga's recovery, the better.
