You won't see a harder momentum swing than on this match at 5-6 in the 1st set.

Tsonga playing horribly and serving at 45% till that moment, then makes 6-6 with 4 service winners and plays at a good level for the rest of the match.

Re: Toronto R1: Tsonga def. ERV 7-6 7-1

Tsonga dominated the 2nd set so much they decided to give him and extra game in the 2nd set just for shits and giggles.

Last time the men were in Toronto Tsonga lost in the 2nd round to Chardy. He faces none other than Chardy in round 2 this week.

Tsonga's first win ever in Toronto. :worship:
Well, it's only the 2nd time he plays there. That was a good second set though.

One of the most NID matchups in tennis Tsonga owns ERV.

Thanks. Congrats for your Canadian players btw. :yeah:

some of the best stuff i've seen from tsonga this year
Well, there's not much to pick from Tsonga this year.

vs Querrey was the only match I felt Tsonga was playing like the good ol'days.

Nice to see Tsonga being more aggressive.

Couldn't agree with this. ERV played just fine until the tiebreak and then just went away. The energy in the stadium went away with it. Ended up leaving at 5-0 in second set to watch Isner-Dodig.

What is it that you don't agree with?

ERV was dominating Tsonga till 5-6, having squandered good chances to break him during the set. Then Tsonga puts on another gear and ERV implodes, hence why I said the momentum shift was huge.
