5 years ago the little known Milos Raonic had a minor burst onto the scene of tennis when he upset 2 players to qualify for the Rogers Cup as a player just out of juniors barely ranked in the top 700. He then almost upset top 10 player Gonzalez, having 2 mp's in that match.

5 years later and he's ranked 7th in the world, a few weeks from his career high of 6, and just reached the Wimbledon Semifinals.

Now we have Brayden Schnur. 1 year removed from juniors and currently playing College tennis for UNC, he's barely ranked inside the top 700, easily beats 2 players to qualify for the Rogers Cup.

Where will Schnur be in 5 years time, only time will tell, but enjoy the wins dude, you played very well. Good luck in the main draw, have fun, then go back to UNC for a year, crush the competition there, and then you can turn pro hopefully next year and prove this is no fluke.

I think Schnur will become a decent player but there must have been something wrong with Sugita to lose like this.

Great two wins for Schnur. His form had been dipping a bit before this. He lost in the first round of the NCAA singles tournament and had been losing early in futures. These two wins remind me of MacKenzie McDonalds two wins in Cincinnati last year.
