Not sure if a thread like this has been done before, if so I apologize. From where I'm standing strong mental strength is one of the most important things a player can have in their arsenal. As we have seen at times you can have all the talent in the world but if you can't keep it together between your ears then it will have an impact on your play and results.

Who are your top 5 mentally strongest players on tour and your top 5 mentally weakest players on tour?

Strongest
1 Stakhovsky
2 Djokovic
3 Dolgopolov
4 Dodig
5 Soderling
Honorable mentions: Chela, Isner, Raonic, Garcia-Lopez, Nadal, Granollers, Devvarman, Benneteau except in finals

Weakest
1 Troicki
2 Falla
3 Rochus
4 Golubev
5 Verdasco
Honorable mentions: Davydenko, Tipsarevic, Almagro, Haas, Wawrinka, Nalbandian, Hanescu, Haase

Hewitt, Montanes, Nadal, del Potro all used to be much better. Lu, Tsonga, Stepanek used to be much worse.

Edit: Forgot Andreev. He has to be one of worst chokers.

Djokovic has some guts. Nishikori and Dolgopolov like winning matches from 1-6 0-4 etc.
Raonic quite clutch as well.

Nishikori both wins and loses many like that. Kinda like Gonzalez and Verdasco, who for that reason are hard to place, though I think Dasco is prob in choker category

Very good lists, I'm missing Isner only from the mentally strong players. :p

Did I miss something or how exactly is Stakhovsky a mental giant?

The top 5 mentally strongest players are the top 5 ranked players.

You can name the top 5 chokers perhaps, that would be something related to 'top 5 mentally weakest'. It's hard to determine something like that. Someone constantly going out in 1st rounds of ATP events is not necessarily the mentally weakest, perhaps he just doesn't have any weapons to hurt the opponents he drew etc.

my top 5 strongest.

1- Nadal
2- Djokovic
3- Ferrer
4- Tomic
5- Tipsarevic

Honorable mention: Monaco, Wawrinka, Roddick
Weakest

1- Murray
2- Monfils
3- Tsonga
4- Lopez
5- Troicki

Honorable mention Gasquet and Federer

My weakest list concerns on the level of success. All of these guys would be so much better if they could stay at their high levels for longer. Federer is very tough but it has been seen how insecurities come to his mind in difficult matches.

Nadal is the best by far with no doubt. Isner? that's just a joke right?

No, Isner is really strong enough except if it is a final against American opponent.

Tsonga is in wrong place. I think he is very strong mentally. I don't agree with Monfils, Federer, Murray (except GS finals) or Lopez neither. Nay maybe only with Troicki. :p
