NID, Nadal was always too good for this overhyped old clown. Never faced a single BP despite serving like a WTA player for most of the match. Fish is all serve and is hopeless in rallies. Nadal can demolish him even when exhausted after having fun with geishas the night before.

Take the 4th title of the year, Rafa :yeah:

Nice! Good to see Rafa in yet another final this year. Hopefully he can improve his dismal record in that round. Should be able to, now that it isn't Djokovic on the other side of the net.

Fish was playing well until about 5-5. Then he seemed to just get tired, as much mentally as anything. He didn't seem to have a plan B and just faded.

Second set was the predictable collapse; could only manage one miserable fish stick on the board, and even that with Uncle Toni's image seared into it :

Nadal is actually playing extremely well.... those who think that he had declined are in for quite a wake up call. And he seems much different than in the summer hard court swing... seems like he has lost the mentality weakness he had for part of the season when struggling a bit against worse players. very very happy about this and defintely good signs for Rafael

Yep in 2010 and 2011 he was in awful form just before the US Open. People should remember that next year and in future years, he just needed practice/matches after mid-year break.

Impressive performance by Nadal! I think the decline of Nadal's performance is overrated to a degree. The real problem for Nadal is Djokovic has improved leaps and bounds to the point where he is clearly superior to Nadal at this point in time.

As for the summer hardcourt swing, he did burn his fingers really badly, i think that caused more of an effect than people think.

Didn't think it would be that easy for Rafa. When did they play?

I'll have to see the replay on Tennis Channel sometime tonight or tomorrow

Nadal couldn't return a serve until 5 all, and then Mardy crumbled. I've never seen so many similar scores. It's lucky for Nadal he got 3 nobodies and a self-destructive Fish to cake walk into the finals. And now that Murray has decided to play doubles he'll be dead tired even if he beats Ferrer today.

Fish is the toughest opponent Nadal could have received. Fish beat Nadal this year at Cincy. Apart from Joke, Fish is the toughest opponent for Nadal based on this year alone.

Am I surprised? NOT, lol. That's the thing and it's so sad. When it comes to Nole, Rog and Nadal everyone is just bending over. Pathetic.

Nadal's returning was comically bad, but Fish could not win a rally, repeatedly hit easy putaways right to Nadal's forehand.
