Berrettini is out and Fognini is thus seeded.

Still a strong field and plenty of players who can trouble Djokovic over BO3.

That said he won Tokyo in 2019 and is riding a wave of confidence so he must be regarded as a strong favorite.

Tsitsipas should have a good chance if he can focus

What about the doubles seedings???
Olympic Rulebook says it's based on combined — best of singles and doubles — ranking (at least that's how I read it). If so:
1. Mektic/Pavic
2. Herbert/Mahut
3. Cabal/Farah
4. Karatsev/Medvedev
Hurkacz/Kubot, Melo/Soares, Khachanov/Rublev, J.Murray/Skupski will likely make up seeds 5-8.

How can we have Medvedev/Rublev/Karatsev/Khachanov in the draw? I read that rules say max 3 players from the same country.

A Greek source tells me that Medvedev is a bullshit Russian so he doesn't count.

Didn't I read that Berrettini withdrew? Why are they including him in the seedings?

Chances for gold/silver: Djokovic, Tsitsipas, Medvedev, Zverev and Rublev
Chances for bronze: Hurkacz, PCB, Karatsev, Sonego

The others may be dark horses, but probably will lose earlier, based on this year's hardcourt form.

Wrong.

Evans is replaced by Broady. How Berretini will be replaced is TBD

It's still a strong field despite the withdrawals. Anyway, it's on Novak's racket as always. Best of 3 does give the others a much better shot of winning, though.
Nothing has ever been on Novak's raquet vs. those elite talents.
They don't call him a pusher and a gymnast for nothing....
