TioToni:"We have a higher level than other times in Paris.Tough test against Almagro"

27.05.2015

We have a higher level than in other occasions in Paris. This level is enough to win. We had a lower level in other ocassions and it went well for us

"Now we try to have a consistent game, what we missed till now. We did [played] a good game but we missed the consistency of 4 identical/alike matches"

Tony afirms that the "authentic test" will be tomorrow morning against his compatriot Nicolas Almagro.
"He is one of the most complicated opponents for the second round that a draw can give you. You would prefer not to see him in this early rounds. It is one of the toughests second rounds that we had at Roland Garros. It will be an important test that will allow us to [know] find were we are [how we are]"

Not a concludent exam, because, how Toni remembers, "in other ocassions he was bad enough in the first rounds and later he won" and this year he hopes to turn around this way [by this scheme]

One 'we' is referring to Nadal's game, I assume, the other one to Toni's cholesterol level?

Yes...

- Nadal has faced Almagro 3 times at RG, all three in QF. Thus Almagro is generally QF level opponent at RG. Now they meet on 2nd round already.
- One of the few players that have beaten Nadal on clay.
- Very powerful and thus dangerous opponent

No...

- Almagro might not be in best of form currently, we'll see.
- Almagro may not believe

Anyway...

If Rafa plays his best it doesn't matter what Almagro does...
If Rafa has a bad day though and Almagro is playing well then it can potentially become tough.

Toni is in denial. As he should be.

Higher level of corruption and umpire intimidation maybe, but this level nadal is playing at is not better than in previous years.

Tough test? If that's a tough test for Nadal then what is he saying about his beloved nephew? It's like his fans shitting their pants when they see Nadal has to face the world number 2000 at Wimbledon.

Hard to tell after 1st match. Remember his serve last year? Nadal had some problem with his back and his avg 1st serve speed was 165km/h. So far what ive seen is Nadal serving well, trying to hit flat backhands and looks very motivated. We will see tomorrow what's in our champion.

It's sad how Rafa is still in the shadow of his uncle. He'll be 30 soon and the family pressure will be too much for him.
He has to get rid of Tio if he wants to reach one last slam final.

Almugro is in worse shape than Rafa. Heck, didn't Rafa beat him already this year. Not happening. I don't even see a dropped set by Rafa her.e

"We" as in Toni's level is high as well. His draw rigging skills and mafia influence is indeed at a very high level. Maybe even at its peak. :worship:

Yep, muy dangerous this Almugro.

If Nadal plays well, then we'll have replay of RG 2008 QF result, but with triple 6:3 cruising instead of 6:1.

If Nadal plays better than in the first round but still not very well, then we'll have replay of RG 2012 QF result with one close set 7:5 and other two 6:3 training sessions.

If Nadal plays as in the first round, then we'll have replay of RG 2010 QF result, with three close sets (but only one tb or 7:5).

If Nadal plays as against Coric at Basel then we'll have replay of Almagro-Ferrer AO'13 QF 6-4,6-4,5-7,6-7(4), 2-6.

RG'08 QF 6-1,6-1,6-1
RG'10 QF 7-6(2),7-6(3),6-4
RG'12 QF 7-6(4),6-2,6-3

RG will have a surprise winner this year. Like Wawa and Cilic did last year at AO and USO respectively...
