Tim Henman
Best Active Tennis Player Without a Major
Say this about men's tennis: the active players who should have won a Grand Slam by now have done so: Roger Federer, Andre Agassi, Lleyton Hewitt, Andy Roddick, Marat Safin and even the teenager Rafael Nadal. An annual ritual, Henman whips Britiain into a lather during Wimbledon in his bid to become the first homegrown champion since Fred Perry. Then, inevitably, reality kicks in, Henman's limitations become apparent, and he falls short. Henmania they call this sadistic ritual. (And, as if to taunt his fans further, in recent years, Henman has also reached the semifinals of the French and U.S. Opens.) The depth of the Brits' support—and then, the depth of their disappointment—is, ultimately, admirable. Unfortunately, especially now that Federer is on the scene, this faith in Henman is likely to go unrewarded
