Thomaz is the 3rd seed. 1R BYE, then 2R vs Massu or a Qualifier. Good luck handsome!

Strong performance from Thomaz vs Federer in Indian Wells, playing Roger tight before losing 6-3 3-6 4-6. Thomaz got an advantageous draw in Indian Wells and gave a great account of himself on a big stage when he had the opportunity to play Federer.

Unfortunately he followed that up with a 3-6 4-6 loss to Gil in the first round of Miami, where he said he felt as if he could not feel the ball on contact, resulting in many errors. With this result, Thomaz is 7-7 this season and currently ranked #45.

Thomaz will be playing Davis Cup for Brazil next weekend vs Colombia at home. It will be a tough tie to win vs Falla and Giraldo, so Thomaz will need to be at his best to win. He should be energized, focused and ready to help his team into the WG playoff stage.

Thomaz won both his singles rubbers for Brazil over Colombia to help the country advance 4-1 into the World Group playoffs! Thomaz came from two sets down to defeat Falla 2-6 3-6 6-1 6-4 6-3 and in his reverse singles rubber, defeated Giraldo 6-2 7-6 6-2 to clinch the tie for the Brazilians. Davis Cup brings the best out of Thomaz as he plays with tons of energy and the motivation of playing for his country keeps his positive and fighting throughout the match. In September Brazil plays Russia at home so the team has a great chance to re-enter the World Group for the first time since 2003!

Thomaz' next ATP tournament will be Monte Carlo next week. Hopefully he takes the positive feeling gained from Davis Cup and has a good result in the Masters 1000 event.

I don't know about always, since he has had some really bad losses.

But he actually did amazingly there. First fighting back from 2 sets down and then playing (for the most part) great against Giraldo. I'm hopeful about this clay season now.

He does have some bad losses but usually he shows a ton of heart and determination, which is lacking often in his individual play  :p

His win over Giraldo was awesome. That's a great sign that things are starting to turn around for Thomaz. We'll see if he can maintain that in Monaco.

Thomaz plays Anderson in R1 of Monte Carlo. If he wins, he'll play #5 seed Ferrer.

Anderson on clay is definitely winnable, so Thomaz needs to take advantage. Obviously, David is a completely different animal, but at least getting the one realistic win will be a decent enough event for him. GL, Thomaz!

Anderson off Houston 'clay' should be beatable. Still not an easy matchup though.

Nice, easy win over Anderson.

Could he be any more beautiful?

 6-3 6-2 beatdown. He played amazing.

He needs to beat Haase in the next round and I'd love to see him give Djokovic some problems again.
