Tennis right now feels like Djokovic [huge gap] Federer [huge gap] the rest of the field.

Djokovic is dominating the season and is the huge favourite to win Roland Garros. He may even more dominant than Federer's 2004/06/07 years.

Federer is not a credible threat esp. at slam's due to old age and lack of stamina and consistency, and Murray consistently loses out to Djokovic due to the Serb's superior consistency in two defensive consistent playstyles of both players. Nadal is declining faster than Federer and has been wildly inconsistent.

Dimitrov, Nishikori, and Roanic are all not ready.

What on your thoughts of this new era of Djoko domination?

Unfortunate for GOAT not to be in his prime now in this weak era; would probably be 22-25 slams now.

At the same time it makes it even more ridiculously impressive how he managed to pick up 17 slams spanning multiple strong eras. GOAT :worship:

This is a joke, right?
In 2006 Roger only lost 5 matches: 4 to Nadal and 1 to Murray. A pair of teenagers. That's how strong the rest of the field was. :p
Not Roger's fault, of course, that Sampras had retired and there was a vacuum when he came of age. What could he do? He took full advantage of it, got 200+ weeks as #1 and 12 slams, before Rafa matured enough to present a real challenge outside clay.
Unfortunatelty for Novak, this supposed weak era is not while he's 22-25, but when he's 28, already declining... After he had to fight all through his best years for the top spot against two of the biggest tennis legends ever.
Tough luck. :)
I think Fed fans should really think carefully before deciding whether they really want to talk about weak eras. Think it through. :wavey:

This. Fed dominated his own generation which was strong enough to quickly put the older generation out of the equation. He left his generation much less accomplished than they would be without him and was still holding his own vs. the young generation coming up very quickly back then.

Now, the "lost generation" should provide this challenge to the established Nadal/Djokovic-generation, but with very few exceptions, they are nowhere to be seen.

The only thing that can stop Djokovic is boredom. I predict a cygs either this year or in the next two years.

Fed was schooled by teenage Murray in 2006 while Novak is constantly beating matured Murray in 2015. Put peak Fed in 2011-2015 and he wins 5-6 Slams max.

Then i will ask you a question how on earth those teenagers as Djokovic and Nadal were 2 or #3 for such a long time? Did not Novak played F in USO 2007 vs Federer?! Did not Rafa win FO in 2005 ?! Where was Djokovic from 2008 AO to 2011??? How this old mug Federer from week era won vs Djokovic in his best year 2011 at FO??? Why Del Potro won his USO 2009 but Djokovic did wait to 2011?! What happened to Djokovic after 2011? Why he could not have more GS'but only 1 per year? Is Wawrinka better than Roddick,Ferrero,Hewitt,Safin,Davidenko,Nalbandian????????????? Maybe because it was his 1st GS at 29. Those guys for Fed' generation have more than one GS' F and more than one MS1000. Why this great player Nishikori beat this GOAT Djokovic in his prime???? This great player Melzer beat Djokovic at FO in 2010???? How on earth 36 old Karlovic beat this GOAT DJokovic in his prime and then 33 old Federer beat him again???? I think you a great tennis fan but need to respect other players as well. Someone likes you maybe next year or in two years will talk like you for Djokovic when his/her favorite winning vs him! Novak is not a spring chicken as well as you know.

The gap isn't that huge. And Federer is closer to the rest of the field than he is to Djokovic. The thing is, and what people underestimate, is how much tennis is about day form. Djokovic's level might be above and beyond the rest of the tour, but he's going to have "one of those days" multiple times this season where someone is going to best him. I very much doubt he's going to win the next (potentially) 21 matches at slam level and no way he wins the rest of the M1000s he plays in.

The threats to Djokovic are all around, just like any other tennis player. The question is whether these opponents have enough belief and game to beat Djokovic in BO3 or BO5.

Faker is lucky he didn't face Roddick in his prime especially on grass....he was owned by a post prime Roddick as a GS Champion anyway. Safin obliterated this clown twice. Faker is very lucky he has peaked in this era. Roddick/Safin would have obliterated him in the previous era as the stats show and in the era before that he would have been deer in headlights on fast courts vs Pete Sampras. He's cashing in on declining Nadal, fluked a win vs mono Federer back then and cheated his way to a slam win in A013, getting owned by 34 year old Federer in fast courts and taking advantage of post surgery Murray/absence of Del Potro, Soderling. Apparently Faker is already declining but Federer at 28 was still at his absolute peak despite mono :haha: :spit:

2000-2009-Federer era with 15 slams
2010-2015(ongoing decade) - Nadal era with 8 slams

Poor Faker is still a footnote.

Lol at Fed fangirls calling this a "weak era", while the muggiest the weakest era ever (2003-2006) they dare to call strong. So much delusion and hate.

The field 2011-2015 is much much stronger than 2003-2006. Anyone with half a brain who is not deluded by Fed worship knows this.

I have never called Federer a mug or mentioned a weak era in those years of the Fedal wars. I don't like to indulge in hypotheticals.
I am just defending my man from what I consider ill-advised attacks,by saying that any argument which can be applied to one player, can be applied to another. He who kills by the sword, dies by the sword.

It's a ridiculously weak era. Novak is lucky Federer & Nadal have declined otherwise he would be in his rightful place at number 3. There is no one to challenge him, not because he is playing at another level but because his two main rivals have declined and the upcoming generation are all mugs. And then throw in the majority slow courts that enhance Novak's overrated defensive & return abilities and there is very little chance of beating this very boring number 1 player.

Safin "obliterated" a 19-year-old Djokovic. Djokovic was at his peak at 19-years-old? :yeah:

:haha: :haha: :haha: :haha:

EDIT: 17 year old :rolls:

You should be ashamed of yourself. Using a win against a 17-year-old boy as some sort of proof of something.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Decade

Because the common calendar starts with year 1, its first full decade is the years 1 to 10, the second decade from 11 to 20, and so on.[5] So although the "1960s" comprises the years 1960 to 1969, the "197th decade" spans 1961 to 1970.
Thank you very much.

Were you asleep during 2011 or something? Djokovic could handle Federer and Nadal just fine.

To be precise, it was 17 years old Djokovic - AO 2005, not 19 years old.
