Medvedev winning a Slam is the last nail in the coffin
The only thing now matters in tennis is a size and reach, so you can bot on serve and catch every ball in rally
Look, this dude can't even hit a proper dropshot from a half-court and missing like every-second shot when needs to generate the pace by his own.
Looks like Tsitsipas is our last hope. NextGen tennis is going to suck big time, so enjoy last years of real players (born in 1980s).

Big 3 era ended today. Thanks for the memories.
King still has 1-2 Wimbledons in him and maybe AO if gets piss-easy Medvedev's draw
I don't mind the end ofbig-3 era
The worst thing is that dude like Medvedev with ugly tennis and the most hideous strokes ever is winning Slams these days
Imagine how tennis will look in few years with hacks like Medvedev being on the top of the game. Tsitsipas should hire Magnus Norman. He is the chosen one to save the sport. .

Medvedev is beatable, you need the right game plan for it. Last night he was simply outplaying Djokovic at his own game. You need to take the ball early and play more net points.

Him winning a hard court slam is hardly a tragedy, he has done very well on the North America HC swing in recent years so I think it is deserved. He played with composure, served brilliantly and hit some nice forehand winners from the back of the court.

With Djokovic possibly fading away, it will be an exciting race between the likes of Medvedev, Zverev and Tsitsipas followed by potential champs like Alcaraz, the Italian Battalion and FAA.

With the competition opening up, I think these guys will back themselves to go one step further than they previously have. I would genuinely be surprised if any one of them dominates the rest, the competition is too tight for any one person to emerge on top.

The end of tennis as we've known it , yeah . Many called that , 4 years ago, it wasn't a tough call though , though people still had faith in the Shapos sort and ultimately thought there never was a tall athletic dominant player for too long , there never will . The natural course Logic that they'll break a knee or sth .

But It was obvious bound to fail with modernity and it's already here . Love , hate it . Take it as you will .

Lol, definitely not the end of tennis but is it the end of racist, stupid cop Mark? That would be a good thing!

Also, Medvedev's tennis yesterday was amazing. How can you hate his play style, it was a joy watching him play!

This is great for tennis, great that Medvedev won a slam and even better that he did it against one of the big three because now everyone will have more belief that they can do it too. Tsitsipas really should have won that RG and Fritz Taylor really should have kicked out Djokovic at the AO.

End of tennis? More like the start of beginning of tennis. A 34 year old winning the calendar slam would have been the end of tennis. Medvedev is the hero that tennis needed but didn’t deserve.

ha!... I read this when Safin beat Sampras.. Then Fed came.. and people hailed the savior for beautiful tennis, then it got one side domination, and people said same thing, then Rafa's 2008 people said tennis saved.. and Fedal domination.. oh Novak came, then some said, tennis saved...

Point is - Game is lot bigger than any one player.. Tennis will keep taking new forms and shapes. Tennis alive and fine.

Medvedev plays a similar game to Djokovic and can beat him, but he's not unbeatable. Personally, I think Nadal and Federer (from their prime) would be much better at exposing Daniil and beating him than Novak.
Novak can beat him too.. Just yesterday his mind gave up... like I said.. it is a choke of historical proportions.. Might be listed in top 10 chokes ever.. might even top it.

A relaxed Novak has lot more he can do to Med.. heck he can even push him with those 50 shot like rallies.. Can serve lot better.. Most importantly, Med's serve was unbelievable. I think Novak knows he can do lot better in returning too.. What happened yesterday was the moment got better of him. He knows that.. when the real biggest moment of his career came.. he was not ready to take it.. That is why it stings so bad. But, do not make the mistake of thinking if they play again Med has Novak's number.. not that easy....

Many talk about Djokovic's pressure itself, but I think Medvedev actually put him in that position even more. It's not like Med is not under pressure.
Med also realised that if he loses again to Djokovic in the final, he probably wouldn't be able to win a GS. Two defeats in the GS final against Djokovic could've been massive for him.
I think that's why Med came out with the best plan to defeat Djokovic who is under a lot of pressure himself.
If Med had played like AO, I don't think he would have won against even vulnerable Djokovic.

Good point. I mean people talk about Novak's pressure which sure it was but seem to be forgetting Daniil must have felt enormous pressure too. Third slam final, potentially 3rd loss, facing one of the greatest (if not THE greatest) player of all time to whom he lost in straights last time they played, having 90% of the crowd against him. I mean what if he loses again? Will he get another chance and when?

Everyone feels the pressure. We must not forget that.

No wonder Medvedev is a specialist in hard courts and his game does not translate well to other surfaces such as clay and grass where there is more strategy and variety for the player to succeeds in the ups and downs of the matches.

Don't forget young Mussetti who ran out of NAFTA after winning the first two sets in RG.
Zverev in Australia should have won the match too, and he made those mistakes again in his USO match.
At Wimbledon, Shapovalov failed in crucial moments of the match and prevented him from defeating the Serbian there.
