Tennis Tipping Manager's Thread 2020

How do I sign up to be a manager?
Every Tennis Tipping player is allowed to manage an event. If you are a new manager we recommend you start with a challenger event. If you want to manage a tournament, make sure that you have enough time every day to do the updates and post the differences. You can see the specific responsibilities you will have in the TT rules thread. You just have to ask for a free tournament in the TT Managers thread and I will confirm your management by adding your username on the front page beside the event you asked for or simply liking your post - or in case of any absence one of the other Board Members.

Please make sure that you update the front page of your event so that Taz Warrior can easily update the rankings.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to the TT Board members. Any of us will be willing to assist you.

The 15th TT Season is just around the corner! It's an honor to take over the manager's thread in such a great game. :)

Just a few things to keep in mind:
  • Let's try to keep a balanced number of manager's per month (say.. 2 per month). In emergencies, it's okay to break this rule.
  • Open your thread early enough so that the commitment phase is at least 10 days long.
  • Give a backup choice (if applicable) in case there is heavy demand for one specific tournament.
  • New managers should start with a challenger.
  • You are certainly allowed to team up with a friend to manage one of the bigger tournaments (GSs or IW/Miami!). I actually recommend this as it will be less of a burden on one person to manage.
  • Keep in mind the one major rule changes that was made during the offseason! (PTS1-3 for finals)

Thanks, guys!
ATP Cup, please. :sneaky:
Thanks, are you sure you are familiar enough with the TT rules and the actual rules of the cup to be comfortable managing this one alone? Board was actually considering splitting up amongst ourselves at a time because we thought it might be easiest.

I am. Plus I've got a whole month to get rid of lacks in crucial knowledge about the event.
I'm eager to manage TT events, but I rarely happen to draw this opportunity, and the first week of January looks suitable for me in the mentioned aspect.

We are very happy to have you on board , I will take the lead of organizing the event and confirming the players before you get the threads open for Brisbane/Perth/Sydney, we will see how difficult it seems and be available to help you where needed.

Splitting into 3 individual events and limiting the OOPs from each venue should make this much simpler to manage and play.

If need be I will co-manage this with you throughout , as the first time around for this event.

This is the new TT Board account which will be used for board members to neutrally make announcements to the community.

In addition, the TT Board will use this account to help each other manage big events. BMT360 will take the Australian Open and all picks will be sent to this brand new account where all three of the board members will have access to and will help enter picks into a shared spreadsheet. This technique will be used as a test run so that managing big events can be easier managed during the season. If it works, then similar techniques can be used for other big events where two or more people can have a shared spreadsheet and assist each other with copying and pasting picks whenever they have a chance to! Obviously other arrangements will be made with the board's opponents sending and that will all be specified prior to the start of the event.

With many managers complaining about the loss of the very convenient "download as .txt." feature, the board believes that this type of system can help suppress the workload of the manager.

I was actually strongly considering offering to manage the AO. I could help out and do doubles only perhaps. It’s the only GS I can help with and I know there is a struggle to find managers for these big events.

Feel free to take it completely. We can try that concept (I think it will be beneficial moving forward with managing becoming more difficult after migration and the lack of managers) for other events later in the season, perhaps IW/Miami which we tend to struggle to find strong managers for.

I can help with anything you want. Let me know.

I’m traveling right now (see my US flag) so let me think about it and I’ll PM you in a few days.
