I can't believe no one announced this one. However here are some stats:
Lleyton: 5 aces, 4 DF, 54% first serve, 66% of return second service points won, BP's won 5 of 13, saved BP's 1 of 3.
Nicolas: 4 aces 13 DF's (I not sure if Mahut was serving or he called for Dementieva to serve instead of him).

Not really sure how this indicates Hewitt's form, I guess we will all find out in R3 with Berdych. it would be nice from someone who watched the game live to give us some insights.

First half of the first set was highly entertaining from both players, many trademark Hewitt lobs and some good all-court play and athleticism from Mahut. Then Mahut was crucially broken in the first set in an extended game (after they both traded breaks) where Mahut hit some amazing shots combined with cheap errors and double faults until he finally got broken. Mahut's level dropped quite a bit after that and he was going for broke on his shots, he seemed a bit tired or injured (at the time, not to say that he was).

In the second set, first Hewitt serves two double faults to get broken early just when it seemed like he was going to cruise through the rest of the match allowing Mahut to play a bit better again, but Mahut's service games are littered with double faults giving Hewitt about two free points in about three of his service games.

I'm surpised this match wasn't posted up because there was a few interetsing things in this match. Both Mahut and Hewitt were complaing line calls, lleyton absolutely cracked at one, seemed like there was a problem with a line call every 10 minutes.

About the match, Hewitt's form was patchy, probably help by Mahut lack of concentation at the end of the first set and mahut's double fault count. Lleyont then gave away a silly break in the third to be 3-1 down but lleyon got it back by Mahut giving it away serving a few doubles in one game. Lleyton played some good shots and the longer rallys were mostly won by lleyton but still doesn't look that great, hitting unnecssary errors and serve contiunes to let him down as well. Interesting to see what happens against Guccione

Thanks for info on the match, both of you. I am surprised that Lleyton and Cris never played before. Do you know if they perhaps played each other on smaller non ATP tournaments in Australia or exhibitions?
It might be interesting match up cause Cris has a large serve and sims like Lleyton has some real issues with firepower lately.
