I was just wondering the same thing .. is it the first ?

However both are far from qualifier material.
Kuku is playing great recently and gave hard time to No1e at Shanghai and defeated Wawrinka at Basel late last year.
Viktor is top 30 material at minimum

That is crazy, in all these years! Every year there are about 2 qualifiers who win tournaments (last year Klizan in Munich and Cuevas in Umag, are there more?).

I was really bummed when DelPo got Kuku cause I knew it would be a very hard match to win.

Kuku has been looking very good the last couple of months and we all know that when he's on he plays top 10 level. i shoulda put money on him back then, such a waste, I picked him as favorite since R2.

2 Qs in the final tho... Good for keeping hope in the hearts of top 100 players so very good for the game.

Two qualifiers in Sydney final, a qualifier in Auckland final, even the Casablanca CH has two qualifiers in the SF, and could also have one in the final if Rufin wins

Crazy

It's not that crazy when you consider it's the one of the first tournaments after the off season and how dire the field was to begin with.

Well I might say good for them -- going to 4 more matches compared to the top seeds is probably bitter work, and another interesting addition to tennis history, with two players playing the most number of matches they could play in a tournament, hehe.
