Tipsarevic is quite tough to overtake but Misha built up so much confidence...

To me, the obstacle is not the players he will have to face, but more the fact he's defending his title..

I watched the match live.
Janko played a good match! But Misha made way too many mistakes and he didn't fight enough. He had like, at least 7 breakpoints in the second set and didn't make one. And near the end of the second set, he gave the impression that he didn't care anymore. It was horrible to see.
NO NO Misha didn't really deserve to win. and it's not that Tipsarevic was much better than him.

Thanks for the report Liesel - it's always nice to hear from people who could see the match live. I like Janko a lot (see my signature :) ), so if Misha was to lose I was glad it was to him - if that makes sense!

I think as tedlesurfeur said yesterday, the pressure of defending last year's points proved a lot for him. Also I think Misha is probably a bit tired - he has played a lot of tennis these last days, including the Davis Cup, and maybe needs a few days off. Hopefully he can get some rest now and come back stronger in the next tournaments.

Shall I quote myself ??

He may lose points here, because he was defending his title, but there are so many tournaments where he didn't do well last year, the Masters Series for example, starting with IW & Miami.. We have to believe in him..

He just kept surprising me more and more since 2006.. So we will see what he has in store for us ^^

He cannot retrograde lower than world n°12 soo.. no worrie ^^

Wait, nobody mentionned his victory in doubles.. He plays with Kohlschreiber (see my avatar  ) and the one time they partenered together last year, they won. It was in Munich..

They defeated Damm/Vizner today..

I think Misha & Kohl have quite a similar game even it appears different at first (it's because they move differently). They both can reach all angles and have all the shots to do really good..

They should play together in Grand Slams.. ^^

Thanks for your positive attitude  And you are right - he has many opportunities to pick up points in the Masters' Series. Must admit, I hadn't noticed the doubles result  I don't follow doubles so much to be honest, but any win is good :)

I'm disappointed because to lose is normal but if you have difficulty you have to fight and don't accept the defeat.
In this period Misha is playng a beautiful but insubstantial tennis and it's fundamental to find again his forehand solidity

Tough draw for Mikhail. I think he can get passed Tipsy and if he does that he should make the semi.

 Misha lost to Santoro 4-6, 4-6  I was hoping for a better result than this - but I guess Santoro is SUCH an irritating player to play against! Ah well - guess now he can enjoy a few days off in that luxury Hotel and take Julia shopping :)
