Completely expected, Thiem's game simply doesn't translate to grass, he will never be better than Wawrinka on it.
You are desperately making excuses for his lack of ability.Shortening your swings is not exactly an easy task and given the grass court season lasts only 5 weeks it's not a good idea to try and change your technique too much during that time.
Obv. he needs to work on his return which would certainly help him a lot on grass too.
Vesely's not a clay courter. He just had a lot of success on clay, because that's where the most challenger level tournaments are played. You are desperately making excuses for his lack of ability.
There are many claycourt players who have techniques not exactly suited to grass that have adapted their games and found success on the surface. Even Vesely made R3 of Wimbledon last year without playing a warm-up event.
Only Antonitsch somewhat could handle grass: http://www.tennisabstract.com/cgi-bin/player.cgi?p=AlexAntonitsch&f=ACareerqqB2Looks more like Muster than Wawrinka on grass so far. Funny Austrians struggle so on the surface, neighbouring Swiss does somewhat better.
Oh, don't get me wrong, I'm not in the least surprised, but that doesn't take away the fun of itIt's grass after all, so every person who knows something about tennis, would have known that Dominic will lose for sure. But someone like you doesn't have a clue
