Who could expect another Volandri's ATP final when he sunk in Italian Challengers in years 2009-10? The guy seemed finished at the age of 27, now at the age of 30 is one win away from arguably the biggest title of his life.

Volandri is an excellent player on clay, better than Thomaz for sure.

Well done Filo :yeah: Really played a great tennis all the week, good luck against Almy!
Perhaps Filo's game is better suited to clay, but Bellucci's power should earn him a big advantage on this clay, + it's in brasil, even if he were to lose he has no business getting bagelled by Volandri, especially after winning the 1st set

So glad to see Pippo build on those two SFs from last year with this fantastic result. Too bad Thomaz can't catch a break right now, but hopefully this week puts him back on the right track.

One step closer to the top 50, suck it up.

Lol, did anyony actually watch the match? Bellucci had an ankle injury since the end of the 1st set. In the following sets he could barely move and was serve-volleying every single point. He was very brave to stay in the match until the end.

I mean yes Bellucci was injured since 1st set, but like erickmartins said i give Bellucci credit for at least staying in the match. As for Filo, he played very well especially in the first set, he troubled Thomaz just like Thomaz troubled Filo, it was an even 1st set, but then Thomaz just squeaked out the first set. But then when he had a chance to go up 1-0 in the second, he clapsed and didnt play better the rest of the match, kudos to Filo for stepping up his game when he needed it. Thomaz lost in the end:sad:. I hope he can take some needed rest for his ankle injury he needs it:hug:

A shame that Francis can't be around to celebrate the win of his favourite player.
