I randomly came across this interview he had with Ai Sugiyama herself in 2013 and she mentioned that.

And only idiots still consider both tours like one sport. To compare achievements, stats and records, when they have so different conditions is pointless, is what i meant.
Really? What different conditions are there for this record??? Please tell me.

depth of the tour in the top 100. Have to stay there for 15.5 years to match this.
