Well the main purpose was to hamper the servebots, but the consequence is that fast attacking players are also punished. The solution of course would be to reduce the service box, but that seems to be too intelligent for the ATP to understand.

I like variety and I hope there will be a return to some more faster Hard courts and grass courts alongside slower Hard and slow clay courts. People obviously enjoy the physicality of tennis and rightfully so but I love the serve into the big winner play.

The slowing of the courts is a disgrace and ruined what tennis is meant to be. Tennis needs a variety of styles that courts in the 2000’s decade offered perfectly. There we saw a good amount of attacking players, defensive players, some serve and volleyers as well. Now everyone is just a generic baseline player with no variety and no clue how to play at net. Even the few players that are at least somewhat competent at net e.g. Tsitsipas are still nowhere near the level of previous generation net skills.

If the serve-bots aren't given a fast surface, there will be less chance of the Top 4 being beaten before the SF.
So a slower surface will help the Top 4 survive, and the public wants to see the Top 4 in the SF.....and as many of the Top 8 as possible in the QF.

Australian Open 2019, Quarter-Finals = 1, 2, 8, 14, 16, 22, 28, unseeded
Australian Open 2019, Semi-finals = 1, 2, 14, 28

Roland Garros 2019, Quarter-Finals = 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 7, 10, 24
Roland Garros 2019, Semi-Finals = 1, 2, 3, 4

Wimbledon 2019, Quarter-Finals = 1, 2, 3, 8, 21, 23, 26, unseeded
Wimbledon 2019, Semi-Finals = 1, 2, 3, 23

US Open 2019, Quarter-Finals = 2, 3, 5, 13, 20, 23, 24, unseeded
US Open 2019, Semi-finals = 2, 5, 24, unseeded

And the only top 8 seeds to miss the Roland Garros QF was Tsitsipas (lost to French Open Champ Wawrinka-24) and Del Potro (lost to rising star Khachanov-10).

That’s true but at the same time, people also wanna see some new faces and different results as well. A mix up is best as the same people winning all the time is boring but no players having a clear edge ala WTA also is lame as there’s no excitement in a top player losing.
