What FFT did (did try to do) is despicable and unprecedented.
Hugely disrespectful towards ITF, ATP, all the tournaments and all the players (except for Nadal, of course).
FFT shameful actions can't be condoned.
FO should be downgraded to the status of Masters 1000. If ITF wants a Slam on clay to be played, then they can choose Rome or maybe Madrid.
Enough with the french bs.

Rome wont happen. It has the esteem but will need a complete new and bigger site to host a Grand Slam. Tough to find a good place and it will take years to be build.

Madrid has the venue but it is ugly, modern, without the prestige and flair and complete outside from inner city.

It isn't ugly, RG and USO venues are ugly. It's as modern as AO and way less "outside from the inner city" than USO and W, comparable to RG.

Yes. Make Rome the Slam, or maybe a new tournament South America 2021? Plenty of time to plan. There will be no tennis played in 2020.

RG is beautiful. They built more. The area surrounding it beats the dust in Madrid. Seriously, Caja Magica is not worth for a Grand Slam Tournament. The inner stands are horrible with the metal.
Madrid needs to built as well a complete new site which suits a major tournament better.

No!
They should downgrade it to a ATP500. There are already two Masters playing in France.
They should make Hamburg the Slam instead.

Surrounding area isn't relevant at all. Caja Magica just needs some minor improvement and would be light-years better than RG.

Plus really, last time a Frenchman won it was 1983, Spanish players have taken it 17 times since then. Italy is slamless since living memory.

The FFT has already passed the border from poor decisions to inacceptable incompetance a long time ago, the people behind the tournament should have never been allowed to manage a sports event of that size.

Europe has 1 Slam already, therefore after downgrading FO they could move 2nd Slam of the year to Asia.
The calendar could be
Australian Open
Asian Open (Shanghai?)
Wimbledon
US Open

BS. Europe has the overwhelming majority of players and champions, not to mention the tradition. Asia/Pacific already has AO, which is more than enough given the pitiful level of tennis in the region. RG should be moved to Spain, which is a tennis superpower unlike any Asian country could ever dream to be.

Downgrade the French open to a challenger, replace it with a slam on carpet or fast hard. Need to reward talented shotmakers.

Yawn another fanboy post . When did mtf turn into a big 3 partisan fanboy conference? It makes no difference to Nadal if atp gave 1 point to the winner, also please read the atp rule book because they have no authority over GS tournaments because the atp does not sanction Slams the itf does so the atp downgrading the points does not prevent it from being a GS...

whats despicable and unprecedented is china releasing this virus causing a new worldwide plague. It is disgusting that you blame the French for moving the fo, France isnt responsible for this virus so moving the tournament is not despicable.

Cut the nonsense man. I get you are a Nadal hater but don't let that cloud your judgement. It's a grand slam(the most important tennis tournaments) and everybody in tennis should work to make sure the three remaining slams get played this year if possible. Anything else will HAVE to take a back seat to the slams. Simple as that.

It's like when the NBA start back up(if in fact they do), some or all of the the rest of their regular may get cancelled but obviously the playoffs and finals won't unless they just can't play anymore. You don't cancel the main event(in tennis those are the grand slams) for minor events. Or try to work main events around minor events, it's the other way around. Everybody knows this.
