Big win for Murray who actually had 15 aces which is unlike him lately actually finished the match with 3 aces in a row after things got a bit tense in the final game with Goffin having several break points.

As for Goffin he can have my username if he wants to post on MTF.

Amazing slam-dunk from Goffin at 15-40 4-5* to break Murray and level the score in the second.

yesssss. let's go! on to the final. Murray almost let Goffin back into it but mostly he was dominant.

Good win for Andy. His fitness is improving steadily for sure. Both awful on 2nd serve, Goffin more so.

just pathetic and shameful from goffin. murray's own bad form and mistakes made this close in the end

i'm deeply disappointed in david and actually pissed that he chose to prioritize chicago and a meaningless exhibition over coming here where he is defending champ. got here in wednesday with no chance of being ready to go. he was a zombie

huge pressure on him to defend or at least have a deep run in tokyo now and go deep somewhere because he has a ton of points coming off. honestly though here i still saw worrisome patterns. no serve, no forehand and wilting the second he's under pressure. his cinci form is gone and i;m convinced there's still a problem with his arm. if he can't have some deep run somewhere he'll drop out of the top 25 by the end of the season and he won't have a cushy seeding he has now to go deep in big events.

really hope chicago was worth it

I didn't watch but here hoping it was more Big Murr playing great, than Little Muffin playing poorly. Good win for Andy nonetheless. Decent chances to go all the way now.

You party with your idol right before the part of the season where you'll have to defend loads of points, a dozen time zones away from where you should be, and naturally right off the bat the god of tennis gives you an opponent who has always toyed with you. Hell, the said opponent is still in the middle of a long rehabilitation and is even about to end his season, but of course you lose the match anyway. Well done, David.

I posted this in the live com thread, but nobody has answered, so can somebody tell me if
Only saw it from 5-2 in the second set, was the whole match like that, loads of UEs, a few winners and not much else?

Andy up to 259 in @Slasher1985 's OER live ranks, plays either Taro Daniel or Fernando Verdasco next - good possibility to go farther here.

He probably got paid more at Chicago than the 1st place prize money here. It's an ATP 250. Not a big deal.

when you take into account that he has a ton of points to defend coming up even a 250 is a big deal. this week and next he's defending 750 and then finalist points from WTF. he could potentially find himself outside the top 25 by year's end..or even lower. no more high seeding protection in slams and none at all in masters. life will be a lot more difficult for him

you could say im rushing to conclusions/jumping the gun but he has played 3 bad matches in a row now without a serve or forehand. he won't win a lot playing without those. im pretty sure he has issues with his shoulder/arm still which is why his serve and forehand have been so bad lately.

might also be in my head but im not entirely sure his head is on tennis right now.
