Here the update on the ATP site after yesterday's match vs GGL.

http://www.atpworldtour.com/News/Tennis/2011/10/41/Shanghai-Wednesday-Nadal-Murray-Advance.aspx

"[It] was tough [to] lose last year in Bangkok," admitted Nadal. "Less painful because I came after winning the US Open, but probably was the more unbelievable loss in my career against him, because I never had as many chances as I had in that match, and I lost. [It] was a little bit on my mind today in the break points. I didn't play my best match [today], but is unbelievable the conditions how can change from Tokyo to here."
:awww: :awww: Poor Rafababy

All matches taking so long yesterday & today.

Who cares. It's indoors season. Rafa's never done great there and I doubt he would this year of all years. Upsets happen all the time this part of the year. Rafa will be OK :smoke:.

It's mimi's fault. :p

Clearly I should be the only one opening threads from now on. At least I manage to get Rafa to the final.

Rafa needs to get better prepared for the next season.
I wonder how playing the DC final will affect his preparation/fitness for the next season but there's no way he'll withdraw from the DC final when (relatively) healthy. Rafa doesn't seem fit enough right now?

Not unexpected but totally disgraceful loss. There were some lucky points indeed by Mayer but Rafa should have done a lot better on the return. He has some 3 & 1/2 weeks of rest before Paris. Hopefully he will use them accordingly for rest and pratice.

He’s got some tough days in front of him.

Hopefully DC will energize him. He’s not got his heart in it right now.

I didn't want my prediction to come true and when it was Mayer he was facing I thought for sure it wouldn't

Tough times for Rafa but this has always been a poor part of the season for him, even last year he lost to Melzer and GGL. The Murray match worries me though.

He really needs to change his game, it is just less effective now that he doesn't move as well and his BH has become what it has.

Rafa needs to improve his forehand, backhand, volley, smash, serve, return, footwork, stamina and mentality for next year if he wants to win something major off clay again!

he will be fine next year, don't worry you all.....he has to fix a few things in his game in the off season and he knows better than anybody what exactly are those things......this season's gradually taken a toll on him mentally......next year is a fresh start with a fresh mind......

Few people including Rafa doesn't really understand off-season and breaks between tournament. Basically there is no off-season for him this year. He will have hardly 3 weeks and a half before Abu Dhabi and Doha start. He has much more time between AO and IW, Wimbledon and Canada, USO and Tokyo. He should have used this time opportunities rather than waiting for the shorter off-season.
