Fans react to Roger Federer suggesting a potential ‘Seniors’ Tour’

Federer said he would consider creating the spectacle, and would name it the ‘Fedal Tour’, to which one X user responded: “Yes please!”

One fan claimed: “I’d pay to watch this any given day and twice on Sundays,” while another said: “We might get a Fedak Tour? Oh my god, can you hear me screaming and crying?”

Please make a senior ATP tour…🙏 it will sell out over ATP Tour easily.

ATP does have a "Champion's Tour" but I'm not sure how serious it is. Fedal making a tournament of retired players is gonna be insane though IMO. Many of the "Golden Gen" may want to play some for huge amounts of money. 3 Sets with maybedeciding tiebreaker Set will probably be enough to entertain audiences.

I read somewhere that the Champions Tour has been defunkt since the start of Covid in 2020.

I don't recall seeing anyone on Tour so that must be the case.

The problem this Fedal Tour will have today is primarily the particpants will be in the mid 40s to 50s. So people will really be watching players for totally nostalgia reasons.

Twenty years ago, players in the Champions Tour were in their mid 30s to mid 40s.

For instance, in 2003 I saw Becker play Krajicek in the Royal Albert Hall. Becker was 35 years old and Krajicek was 32. Both could still run around really well. Went to a Champions Tiebreak after splitting sets, no third set. This is now done in Doubles. Incidentally Krajicek stayed back and rallied on his serve the whole match, didn't serve volley.

Today guys are retiring around the age of 40. They really have nothing else physically when they retire. They probably can't run much after a year away decompressing before joining any potential Senior Tour.

For the Tour to be a high standard, the players need to play from their mid 30s to mid 40s. Starting in the mid 40s to mid 50s wont work for me. Unless you are Mansoor Bahrami and its all about trick shots and entertaining the crowd. But don't expect lots of running.

Godsick:
“So, Roger just wanted to make sure that his knee was fine. He didn’t want to be totally broken after his career, so he gave it a little bit of time. He’s not there yet but he’s in the gym a lot. I think Rafa’s interested, I don’t want to speak for Rafa. But it would be great to see these guys out there.”

Sounds like Roger is working on to make a comeback on the senior level… only time will tell..
