I never heard of him before............. I constantly hear about Donald Young, but this kid, Jenkins does have some talent.

Jenkins has surprised me tonight...............and he is not just hitting the ball, he is thinking out there.

Most guys that have been on the tour for a while can't even keep up with Nadal this much.

He is playing a good match, very nice to watch ...
Jenkins is looking a lot better than he is because Nadal is playing so poorly

That's not really fair. Scoville has to deal with the same conditions as Nadal.

Well I definitely didn't mention Nadal's play.

I was talking about Jenkins and the fact that he has pleasantly surprised me. Nadal is still ultimately going to win this.
yeah, he's improved significantly since last year's open. Really good to see :)
Jenkins net game has improved a lot.He is going for his shots.Watch for this kid. This is the Jenkins I have seen play not the Jenkins in the Roddick match last year.
nadal will win this one, but i think this just shows that nadal isn't as scary on hardcourts as we all thought. heck, if he meets blake in rd3, i think balke has what it takes to take him out, considering his resurgence

he would've lost to andre had andre not felt very pissed off with nadal's antics in canada...
^It's unfair to gauge Nadal's ability on hardcourts based on one match. If that's the way we should go, then Federer should probably not be considered a threat as well, considering that he played so poorly in his early matches at Cincinnati. As we all know, he won that tournament in the end...

These are just the early rounds, and today's conditions aren't helping either. Give him a few matches this week, and we'll see that Nadal can be a real threat.
I don't think he will play this way against Blake or Andreev. Frankly, it's the right strategy against Jenkins. Jenkins is going to wind up making errors so why push the issue on points? Against someone like Blake, Nadal will stand closer to the baseline like he did in Canada and try to dictate the points. Someone like Blake can consistently hit shots so running back and forth and back and forth will not be a good idea.
Nadal will beat Blake, lets not get carried away!Never heard of this Jenkins kid, but i doubt this kid will ever make a impact, i am not trying to be harsh, the field is too deep.
He is playing poorly but he is still finding a way to win, thats what champs do they find ways to win. He is already 2 sets up
Nadal is playing well trust me. Scoville is no pushover and is definitely a future TOP 100 player if he can fine tune his game.
he's holding his own, that's for sure...

even started returning some of nadal's serves at the end of the second set :yeah:

That's because Jenkins has been toiling away in the futures and challengers out in Timbuktu improving his ranking a little bit at a time by working hard (instead of taking seven main draw wild cards like Young).

Blake doesn't stand a chance against Nadal.

But, I definitely think Jenkins will start making a move up in the rankings.
After two sets, Jenkins has 28 winners to Nadal's 16 but also has 32 errors to Nadal's 8.
Jenkins has only won 9 points on Nadal's serve because he simply cannot move around in rallies and play defense well enough to get back into points. He has to be in control of the point right away and he can only do that off of the serve followed with a FH.
Donald Young is nothing compared to Sco...nothing
Sco has all the right tools...but he needs to work hard on some aspects of his game. That forehand of his and his serve are both scorchers...
