Now that Rainer is ranked 98th in the world, will he have to qualify for the U.S. Open? What's the direct entry cutoff?

Still gets in, what has happened to him anyways? is it injuries or is he just getting old?
i saw him play against both starace and nadal in miami and he's just lost some of his speed and consistency
It's not my fault
It is one simple thing: After the year 2003 with over 100 matches in it he had only 10 days holidays. That was not enough for him to recover completely. And last year he had right after the season a surgery on the knee, which meant, that he didn't have holiday there also, but rehab. And because he is a kind of player, who mainly depends on his physical strength, it is only a bit "logical", that he couldn't repeat the results of 2003.

The Top 100 players got direct entry this year (plus 4 players who used injury protected rankings). The entry list was based on rankings 6 weeks ago, so where was he then?

(but the full entry list is posted in the tournament forum, so take a look there and you can see how close it was for him :D ).
Schuett is in main draw.
