re: Sao Paulo R2: Felix Auger-Aliassime d. Albert Ramos-Vinolas 7-6(2) 7-6(5)

He's really starting to get going. He'll be in the top 25 by the end of the year I reckon.

TSN if you're listening and I know you're not, when will you start covering HIS tournaments?

I dunno, beating Vinolas by the scrap of his neck doesn't look like any progress to me....

the tournament is just very, very weak.

There can be discussions about general level of current tennis, but I don't know when was the last time when group of top claycourters was so weak. Fognini in very bad shape, Schwartzmann out after Buenos final, Thiem playing like a crap, Sousa with top seeding - and players like Cuevas, Pella or Ramos-Vinolas getting older, no Ferrer or Verdasco.

So much space for newcomers like Djere, Londero or Aliassime, good for Canadian to take advantage of that.

For how long have you been following him?

It would have helped if he had converted more than 1 of his 8 break points though. He gave only two chances to Ramos Viñolas. 16 aces is the most I can recall from him in a match and 75% of first serves throughout the match is fantastic for him. He's had serious consistency issues with his serve. So, yes, definitely an improvement.

Really hope Auger can take the title here, he'd be up to #41 if he did so

We won't know what his real level is until he plays some tournaments outside the weak Golden Swing. The clay tournaments in the European swing are a whole different level.

They did the last one. TSN has rights to 500 and up. This is a 250 tournament, those rights are held by DAZN and Tennis TV.

Great Serving today. Time to take a revenge next up against Djere.

Should have won the 1st set easier than he did but got it done and then did just enough in the 2nd. He makes a ton of odd tactical mistakes still (drop shots at times that don't make any sense, repeatedly hitting to Ramos' FH unnecessarily), but it didn't come back to bite him today.

Rematch vs. Djere next. I'd expect a better performance from both of them in that one. The quality of that final was dreadful compared to what they're capable.

Let's see against Djere who appears to be the only good claycourter opposition . I saw Felix serve better than I watched him before . That's really encouraging

Yes, I realized that as I wrote. Didn't Rogers SN have the rights to 250s? What is DAZN?

Yes, where are the times when you had those claycourt specialists who delivered pretty much everytime on this surface.
Someone like Almagro did very well too.
In 10 years time there maybe won't be any more claycourters, everyone will just play the same hardcourt game

In ten years there won't be any surface specialist since all the courts play the same.
There's not much difference between clay, hard court and grass.

Conditions got homogenized, so the players.
