All Australians playing each other. I'm hoping Kubler can make the quarter-finals although I'm worried about fatigue as he's playing Davis Cup in Germany on Sunday.

Last year San Diego benefitted greatly from leading up to Indian Wells. This year it makes no sense for Top 50 players to stay in or travel back to USA for one 250 tournament. Unless you are Evans 😂
Anyway, it doesn't matter as the tournament is not a tour fixture and operates on a one-year license.
Perhaps this slot won't be for San Diego again next year but I can't see anything changing enough for St Petersburg/Moscow to return by next year.

What a lopsided draw lol...

bottom half with Brooksby, Nakashima, Mackie, Wolf, Kubler, top half with Evans, Giron, Duckworth?

🤷‍♂️

Which one do you consider "lop-sidededly" better?
?

The 5th best player from the bottom half is better than the 2nd best player from the top half.

Shouldn't be hard to notice

I get it that this a 250 event and allot of the top players are playing Davis Cup in Europe this week but I was still surprised what a weak draw they have this year. I expected more. But it is what it is. Maybe Brooksby , McDonald or Nakashima can take this and Im happy to see Emilio Nava playing qualies here as he’s been steadily approving this year.

It's normal that it's weak. DC in Europe. Most people will skip next week and the ones who don't will go to Metz (where the draw won't be particularly strong either).
