Where Nalby's backhand gave Fed hell, Safin's actually gave Nalby hell because he had a more powerful one and was almost as consistent when he is dialed in. Using Federer as a basis is not accurate. The biggest difference between them is the serve. Whatever marginally Nalby was better at off the ground, Safin more than compensated for with his very much superior serve - both 1st and 2nd.
