I checked my email this morning-as I always do...and I found out that a soror had passed. Not just any soror...my line sister....MY LINE SISTER!

Back in 1991, when we decided that we (four of us total) wanted to do this thing together, we had a tough time selling her on it, but she relented and joined us in making history together. While we waited for the day we would become members of our sorority, we got to know each other....laughing, crying, and sharing together. You just never forget those things. At least I haven't.

The next year, she would leave and begin a family. It would not be until some years later that she would go back to school and complete her degree. She received her BA in Middle School Education with a concentration in Language Arts. She had told me how happy she was that she could do the thing she loved...and I was happy for her because I was doing the thing I loved as well.

We had not seen other face to face in over fifteen years, and that is too long to go without seeing someone! Her death hit me like a ton of bricks, and even as I write this, I'm shedding tears. I still can't believe it...and I know the reality won't hit for some time...but I also know she's in a better place.

As I've already written it somewhere else, I'm sorry Tiff. The only comfort, right now, is that you know she's definitely in a better place, not suffering any longer. Be strong girl.

This post brought back memories...and brings new ones to the forefront too.
This will be the first Christmas we spend without her.

I still don't know the extent of her illness prior to her death, but I always wonder.
