"I think he will [surpass Sampras' record for most year-end No 1s and Federer's record for most weeks as No 1] but the only guy I'm thinking is that Nadal might have more Slams than him," Rusedski told Express Sport.

"Djokovic is going to surpass Federer, he won't have the most wins or the most titles but he will surpass him for most Grand Slam titles.

"I think the battle is between two guys. Not winning that US Open, that would've taken him to 18 instead of 17 and now Nadal, you've got to give him the French unless [Dominic] Thiem can knock him off his pedestal in Paris.
"That's the only guy who can beat him in my opinion there. He needs two Slams next year at least, or three.

As Garbine Muguruza once told her coach Sam Sumyk on a hot mic, "Tell me something I don't know."

Retired tennis player says a Big3 member needs to win X amount of Slams to have more Slams than Y or Z.

It's possible, however unlikely that...

Not a strong jinx, though, because Rusedski was not quite coherent there by adding: "He needs two Slams next year at least, or three", which IMO is almost an impossible feat for any 34 y.o. player, so, even in the case of two more slams in 2021 for Djokovic, Nadal could end up with most slams in his opinion.

IMO, 40 y.o. Federer could still win his 21st slam (if his knee was O.K) because his stamina & fitness are not problematic, especially if Rafole were again missing on his way to the title (due to an injury, early loss, virus etc.).

Not sure about Djoko.

Can he replicate his epic runs of the past?

4 slams is not much for hin when in that form, but the young players are gaining ground

I wouldn't be surprised if both Fed and Nadal end with 20. Thiem at 27 will be at his absolute peak most likely, and I feel he is in Nadal's head (5 straight tiebreaks Thiem has won against Nadal), so Nadal at 34 will have a hard time against him at Roland Garros. Also injury is a possibility, for some reason this year sounds like one where nadal will struggle with injuries, after healthy 2019 and 2020 seasons.
This could end as 20-20-19, and it just seems right, like no one is much better than the other in majority of people's minds.

Nothing there that Rusedski said was really insightful that any Clayton's tennis follower wouldn't already know.

'I think the battle is between two guys' ... LOL

Thanks. For a second there I thought Del Potro and Wawrinka were a good chance at eclipsing 20 slams.

DQ vs PCB might haunt him forever

Could very well decide the slam race
Not to worry too much since looking back, even if he had won, most (at least Fedal fans) would point to no Fedal (esp. no defending champ Nadal) & put * on it. Possibly the bigger loss was an almost guaranteed 6th WB esp. minus Fed.

Well I wouldn't say that but maybe tards would

Wimbledon far too open to make a suggestion imo, they took the money and ran. Just have to focus on moving forward now
